BALLADEER’S BLOG: WNBA RESULTS – JULY 14th EDITION

Obviously, I will have more coming regarding larger events, but for right now let’s take a look at WNBA results.

indiana fever logoINDIANA OVER PHOENIX – The INDIANA FEVER (10-14) welcomed the PHOENIX MERCURY (12-11) in this game.

The Fever led Phoenix 28-16, 55-35 and 81-58 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. In the 4th, Indiana held off a gallant rally attempt by the Mercury, winning the game 95-86. Kelsey Mitchell’s 28 points led the Fever. CAITLIN CLARK had a Double Double of 20 points and 13 assists, while her teammates Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith logged Double Doubles of their own with 21 & 13 and 14 & 10.

las vegas acesACES WILD – The LAS VEGAS ACES (15-7) took it on the road against the ATLANTA DREAM (7-15) yesterday.

A 44-30 Halftime advantage for the Aces over Atlanta became 57-47 to end the 3rd Quarter. Las Vegas made up the difference in the 4th, taking down the Dream by a final tally of 84-70. The Aces were led by A’ja Wilson with her magnificent Double Double of THIRTY-THREE points and 18 rebounds.   

seattle stormWELCOME TO SEATTLE – This game pitted the SEATTLE STORM (15-8) against the visiting MINNESOTA LYNX (16-7).

The Storm converted their 25-22 1st Quarter edge into a more commanding 50-37 lead by the Half. After the break, Seattle outscored the Lynx 41-26 on their way to a 91-63 smackdown win. Twenty-six points from Nneka Ogwumike led the Storm, while her teammate Skylar Diggins-Smith contributed a Double Double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. 

los angeles sparksSPARKS ON THE ROAD – The LOS ANGELES SPARKS (6-17) traveled to take on the DALLAS WINGS (5-19) on Saturday.

After going almost basket for basket and point for point in the opening Half the Sparks were clinging to a 45-44 edge at the midpoint. The Wings went on top 63-61 in the 3rd Quarter, but Los Angeles came from behind in the 4th to win the game 87-81. Dearica Hamby tossed in 27 points to lead the Sparks to victory.

new york libertyGIVE THEM LIBERTY – The NEW YORK LIBERTY (20-4) were on the road against the CHICAGO SKY (9-14) in this game.

Despite trailing Chicago 21-14 in the 1st Quarter, the Liberty took a 43-34 advantage into the locker room at Halftime. The Sky cut that to a 61-54 difference to end the 3rd Quarter only to see New York leave them behind 81-67 for the final score. Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty with 28 points.

connecticut sunWORKING OVERTIME – The CONNECTICUT SUN (17-5) paid a visit to the WASHINGTON MYSTICS (6-17).

The Mystics saw their 32-21 opening Quarter lead get chopped down by Connecticut to just 50-46 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 65-65 tie and the 4th in an 82-82 deadlock. In the extra session the Sun emerged with a 94-91 triumph. Connecticut was led by DeWanna Bonner with her Double Double of 24 points and 10 rebounds.

    Great posts as always. I’m not a huge fan of basketball but I always find your posts engaging to read. Films about sports have always fascinated me. If you’re a fan of the basketball game, I would highly recommend watching the film “Air”. It tells the true story of how Nike created its successful shoe line for basketball player Michael Jordan. One of my favorite films of 2023.
