BALLADEER’S BLOG: WNBA RESULTS

I’m still experimenting with this second shot at covering the WNBA. The first time was several years ago but interest died quickly. We’ll see how it goes this time. NOTE: The expansion team called the Golden State Valkyries will debut in 2025. Toronto’s unnamed new team will follow in 2026.

  2. Not into basketball but like Caitlin Clarke a lot. Looks like that game went well for her! Love the expansion team name–Valkyries.

    • Yeah, most of the people asking for a second try of WNBA coverage were Caitlin fans. I agree that Valkyries is a cool name. Toronto plans to make a public contest out of what their team’s name should be.

  3. Nah. I’m pulling out my large ball peen hammer, laying my thumb across the vise anvil, and giving it two whacks just for chuckles. A free-safety when I played high school pickup games, watching someone play basketball is tedious. Watching {pardon me for what I’m thinking} women get sweaty doing the same boring sport appeals to me even less.

    • I understand, but my schtick has always been covering out of the way topics, so we’ll see if the interest that Caitlyn Clark generated for the WNBA after her college career pans out.

      • I don’t see it as “schtick.” Your work is genuine, serious, well researched material. Just that I feel remiss in not taking a gander at subject matter I know I’ve no driving interest in. Then, we all know there is something not quite square in my gene mix. pay not attention to the Espie.

      • LOL I appreciate it. I think people should always pay attention to the Espie!
