USCAA DIVISION ONE
DAY ONE: GAME ONE – The top seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) – faced the 8th seeded UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FORT KENT BENGALS.
The Builders played suffocating defense against their opponents in the opening Half, leading them 45-28 at the break. From there, both NNAS and the Bengals added another 51 points to their respective tallies as the Builders won 96-79. Adrion Wall’s 26 points led NNAS.
DAY ONE: GAME TWO – In this game the 3rd seeded LYON COLLEGE SCOTS took on the 6 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT SYRACUSE BOBCATS.
The Scots were on top by a comfortable score of 51-23 by Halftime. After the break Lyon College kept the Bobcats at arm’s length the rest of the way to their 86-57 triumph. Twenty points from Frank Toney led the Scots.
DAY ONE: GAME THREE – The 4 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ALBANY BOBCATS (all BSC teams are called Bobcats) – clashed with the 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE FALCONS.
The Bobcats went up 34-27 to end the 1st Half. From there the Falcons attempted a rally but fell short as BSC-Albany defeated them 65-62. Devon Smith-Johnson’s Double Double of 24 points and 12 rebounds led the Bobcats, while his teammate Denali Burton logged a Double Double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
DAY ONE: GAME FOUR – Wrapping things up for Day One action, the 2nd seeded BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT BUFFALO BOBCATS played the 7 seeds – the MANOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS.
The Bobcats dominated on both sides of the ball, seizing a 46-28 advantage by Halftime. After the break BSC-Buffalo got even more separation from the Blue Jays for an 87-66 victory. Deric Jackson of the Bobcats led his team with a Double Double of 25 points and 15 rebounds.
USCAA DIVISION TWO
PLAY-IN ROUND: GAME ONE – The 9 seeds – the VILLA MARIA COLLEGE VIKINGS – were pitted against the 8th seeded PENN STATE AT MONT ALTO LIONS.
A defense-heavy opening Half ended in a 29-29 tie. From there the offenses caught fire, with the Vikings winning by a final score of 78-68. Juston Johnson tossed in 22 points to lead Villa Maria College in scoring.
PLAY-IN ROUND: GAME TWO – This game featured the 10th seeded PENN STATE AT WILKES-BARRE LIONS facing the 7 seeds – the SOUTHERN MAINE COLLEGE SEAWOLVES.
The Lions absolutely embarrassed the Seawolves with their 37-17 Halftime lead. Southern Maine College just fought for pride from then on but couldn’t even manage that as PSU-Wilkes Barre buried them 80-49. Seventeen points from Rashod Ballard led this total team effort from the Lions.
