COLLEGE BASKETBALL POSTSEASON UNDERWAY: LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS

The divisions of college basketball covered by Balladeer’s Blog tipped off their postseason conference tournaments last night.

NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

mayville sROUND ONE: GAME ONE – The MAYVILLE STATE COMETS took the court against the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS. By Halftime the Comets held a 39-32 advantage over their opponents. After the break, Mayville State got more and more separation from the Vikings for an 82-68 victory. Jamison Kramer led the Comets with 18 points while teammate Darren Jones logged a Double Double of 10 points and 13 rebounds.

dakota state trojansROUND ONE: GAME TWO – In this game the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS hosted the VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS. The Trojans outclassed the V-Hawks in everything but team name, leading them 44-28 at the Half before going on to win the contest by a final tally of 85-61. Dakota State was led by Emmanuel Akpan and Mison Coilton with 15 points each.   

ATLANTIC EAST CONFERENCE

gwynedd mercy u griffinsSEMIFINAL ONE – The GWYNEDD MERCY UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS welcomed the MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY PACERS. The opening Half ended with the Griffins on top 40-33. From there Gwynedd Mercy University squeezed out a little more separation from the Pacers for an 86-76 win. JoHaan Vinson led the way for the Griffins with his Double Double of 21 points and 12 rebounds.

marymount u saintsSEMIFINAL TWO – This game pitted the MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY SAINTS against their guests the IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY MIGHTY MACS. The Saints folded, spindled and mutilated the Mighty Macs, leading them 38-16 by the midpoint. After the break each team put up 35 more points as Marymount University triumphed 73-51. Marcus Beckett tossed in 18 points to lead the Saints.
