USCAA OVER NCAA – The number 1 team in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (shipbuilders) – traveled to take on NCAA Division Two’s CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY WOLVES. By Halftime the Builders were on top 39-28. After the break they floored it, trouncing the Wolves by a final score of 98-56. Adrion Wall’s 20 points led the Apprentice School.
CENTURY CLUB – The STANTON UNIVERSITY FIGHTING ELKS topped fellow newbies the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LEADERSHIP UNIVERSITY RHINOS by a count of 103-60 ### Meanwhile, the (4) BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT SYRACUSE BOBCATS triumphed 102-62 over the PAUL SMITH’S COLLEGE BOBCATS ### And the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ROCHESTER BOBCATS defeated the visiting MOHAWK VALLEY COLLEGE HAWKS 105-90.
IF IT ISN’T SCOTTISH IT’S CRAAAP! – The (3) LYON COLLEGE SCOTS took it on the road against the WEBSTER UNIVERSITY GORLOKS. The Scots converted a 32-21 advantage at the midpoint of the game into a 65-53 victory. Israel Palmer tossed in 15 points to lead Lyon College, while his teammate Nikola SaSaroga notched a Double Double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
HAPPY HOME STANDS – The CHRISTENDOM COLLEGE CRUSADERS marked Senior Day by hosting the MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS and beating them 71-61 ### Elsewhere, the UNIVERSITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE EAGLES whacked the FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS 81-67 ### And the ALFRED STATE PIONEERS won 81-66 over the CARLOW UNIVERSITY CELTICS.
TWO-POINT WONDER – In this game the PENSACOLA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE EAGLES welcomed the SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE FALCONS. The Falcons held a 33-30 edge over their opponents come Halftime, but from there the Eagles fought their way back to force Overtime with a 76-76 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session PCC won 87-85. Ray Horry led both teams in scoring with THIRTY-ONE points.
ROAD WARRIORS – The (5) MANOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS took it on the road to face the BUCKS COUNTY COLLEGE CENTURIONS. The shootout in the opening Half ended with the Centurions up 46-43. After the break, the Blue Jays rallied for a 94-92 nail biter win. Twenty-two points from Eddie Fortescue Jr led Manor College. Fellow Blue Jay Namir Simmons had a Double Double of 17 points and 10 assists.
