CLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER FIVE – The number 5 team in the nation – the TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS – took it on the road against the WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY CARDINALS. At Halftime the Cardinals were on top 36-29, but after the break the Bantams forced Overtime by tying things up 70-70 to end Regulation. In the extra session Trinity College prevailed 79-77. Ben Callahan-Gold notched 25 points to lead the Bantams.
CENTURY CLUB – The (25) CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS welcomed the WARREN WILSON COLLEGE OWLS and proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate them 111-48 ### Meanwhile, the THOMAS COLLEGE TERRIERS won 101-67 at the LESLEY UNIVERSITY LYNX ### And the MORRISVILLE STATE MUSTANGS routed the CANTON (NY) KANGAROOS 105-71.
ONE-POINT WONDER – In this game the ROSEMONT COLLEGE RAVENS paid a visit to the CLARKS SUMMIT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS. Things were knotted up at 28-28 at the Half and remained tight right down to the final seconds. In the end the Ravens eked out a 68-67 win. Ashton West led the scoring in this clash with 19 points.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The WILSON COLLEGE PHOENIX defeated their guests the ST. ELIZABETH UNIVERSITY EAGLES 81-79 in OT ### Elsewhere, the DREW UNIVERSITY RANGERS used the extra session to beat the GOUCHER COLLEGE GOPHERS 102-96 ### And the ALBION COLLEGE BRITONS won 97-86 in OT at the KALAMAZOO COLLEGE HORNETS.
INSTANT CLASSIC – This game pitted the UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE LEOPARDS against the visiting UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS BULLDOGS. The teams went blow for blow and point for point, resulting in a 39-39 tie come Halftime. From there the game went down to the wire with the Leopards prevailing 76-75. Dahmaj Warren tossed in 21 points to lead La Verne.
ROAD WARRIORS – The ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUEBOYS defeated their hosts the BELOIT COLLEGE BUCCANEERS by a final score of 72-69 ### Meanwhile, the GORDON COLLEGE FIGHTING SCOTS won 71-68 at the UNIVERSITY OF HARTFORD HAWKS ### And the ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY GOLDEN WOLVES smacked down the STEVENSON UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS 87-71.
BULLET TIME – The GETTYSBURG COLLEGE BULLETS took the court against the visiting WASHINGTON COLLEGE SHOREMEN. The Bullets dominated on both sides of the ball during the entire game, leading the Shoremen 32-20 at the Half, then polishing them off by a final tally of 67-39. Fourteen points from Akim Joseph led Gettysburg College.
BATTLE OF COOL NAMED TEAMS – The CONNECTICUT COLLEGE CAMELS hosted the UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AT DARTMOUTH CORSAIRS and beat them 71-59 ### Elsewhere, the COLBY COLLEGE WHITE MULES won 86-73 at the BOWDOIN COLLEGE POLAR BEARS ### And the AMHERST COLLEGE MAMMOTHS beat the HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS 71-67 in Overtime.
A DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT O.T. LOVE – This was a clash between the MARIETTA COLLEGE PIONEERS and their guests the HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES. At Halftime the Student Princes were up 37-36, but Regulation ended deadlocked at 73-73. The 1st Overtime result was an 84-84 score, but the 2nd O.T. saw the Pioneers win out 99-91. David Sanford led MC with 27 points.
