NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The battle for the D2 crown pitted the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON against the COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS. The 1st Quarter ended in a 7-7 tie, but by Halftime the Bison were on top 21-7. Harding University shut out the Orediggers from there while continuing to score on the way to a 38-7 rout. * THE BISON ARE NCAA DIVISION TWO CHAMPIONS *
NCAA DIVISION THREE
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS and the defending champion NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE CARDINALS clashed for the title. A scoreless opening Quarter was followed by a 7-3 Cardinals edge by the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with things knotted up at 17-17, and the action-packed 4th saw the Red Dragons manage a thrilling 38-37 triumph over North Central College. * THE RED DRAGONS ARE NCAA DIVISION THREE CHAMPIONS *
NJCAA
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in the NJCAA were the IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS and the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS. The Reivers led 13-7 in the 1st Quarter and were on top 27-7 come Halftime. After the break Iowa Western College made the Lions their prison brides to the tune of SIXTY-ONE to FOURTEEN. * THE REIVERS ARE NJCAA CHAMPIONS *
