Concordia_MICONCORDIA CONQUERS DIVISION TWO – The NAIA’s CONCORDIA (MI) UNIVERSITY CARDINALS traveled to face the upper-level WAYNE STATE WARRIORS from NCAA Division Two. The Cardinals joined so many other NAIA teams who toppled D2 teams this year in a 24-23 Instant Classic.

HillsdaleHILLSDALE AT HOME – NCAA Division Two’s storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS played host to the NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY TIMBER WOLVES. The Chargers proved their determination to right this disappointing season, leading the Timber Wolves 17-7 at Halftime before winning it in a 40-18 blowout.

Missouri WesternDOWN GOES NUMBER TEN – Staying in D2 for a moment, the MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS welcomed the number 10 team in the nation – the EMPORIA STATE HORNETS. This was a tale of two Halves, as the Griffons led 24-6 by the midpoint, but then had to hold on by their fingertips to pull off the Upset 34-31.

NNAS_VAUSCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) welcomed the GEORGIA WARHAWKS for the Hall of Fame Game. The Builders dominated all the way, leading the Warhawks 21-0 in the 1st Quarter and keeping up that momentum for a 52-17 triumph. 

St John's Johnnies helmetCLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER SEVEN – In NCAA Division Three, the 7th ranked SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES visited the AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES and got almost more than they could handle. A 14-6 Johnnies lead at the break became 20-12 in the 3rd Quarter. The 4th saw an Auggies rally fall just short as SJU held on to win it 27-24.

Kansas Wesleyan helmet NEWWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – In the NAIA the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES downed the visiting MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs) 10-7    ###    And another 10-7 result came as the (22) BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS won at the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN.

Butte CollegeTOPPLING NUMBER ONE – Way down in the CCCAA, the 7th ranked BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS welcomed the number 1 COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS. The Roadrunners put the Bulldogs on Upset Alert with a 16-7 Halftime lead, then carried through by defeating them 30-28. 

CSU-PuebloEIGHTY-FIVE – Back up in D2, the COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDER WOLVES found themselves on the road against the FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS. The Thunder Wolves grabbed a quick 22-0 lead in the 1st Quarter and never looked back on their way to a team record EIGHTY-FIVE to NOTHING blowout.

XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS and their hosts, the 13th ranked UNIVERSITY OF ST. FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS. A 14-14 Halftime tie turned into a 21-21 deadlock to end the 4th Quarter. The Cougars won out 28-21 in Overtime.

evangel valor helmetUNHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The (18) EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR rained on Homecoming festivities for the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly Avalanche) by routing them 44-6   ###   Meanwhile, the (14) DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS crashed the HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS’ party 61-21   ###   And the MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS beat the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 41-21.

Dakota Wesleyan Tigers helmet NEWA DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT O.T. LOVE – In this game the DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be Blue Tigers) took it on the road against the MOUNT MARTY UNIVERSITY LANCERS. A 21-21 Halftime tie became 38-38 to end the 4th Quarter. The 1st O.T. remained knotted up at 45-45 but the 2nd saw Dakota Wesleyan emerge with a 51-45 win.

north american university stallionsSOMEBODY’S O HAD TO GO – The NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STALLIONS and the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS both came into this game at 0-4. By the midpoint the Steers were clinging to an 18-16 edge. That became 26-23 in the 3rd before the Stallions galloped in front to win out 30-26.

crown collegepolarsOFF THE SCHNEID – The CROWN COLLEGE POLARS got off the schneid for 2023 against the visiting WESTMINSTER COLLEGE BLUE JAYS. The Polars led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but the Blue Jays took a 9-7 edge by Halftime. Crown College was back on top 20-17 to end the 3rd Quarter and added 5 points in the 4th for a 25-17 win.

olivet nazarene tigers pawFIFTIES NOSTALGIA – The OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be Purple Tigers) mangled their hosts the JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES by a score of 58-14    ###    And the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT sent the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be Flying Ws) back home reeling from a 59-6 evisceration.

Langston Lions NEWLION ON LION VIOLENCE – The LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS visited the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. SAGU may have led 3-0 to end the opening Quarter but Langston dominated from there. When the dust settled LU had won out 45-21.

Texas Wesleyan U Rams NEWROAD SHUTOUTS – The TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS embarrassed their hosts the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES in a 62-0 laugher    ###    And the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS achieved defensive perfection at the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS 35-0. 

NCAA DIVISION TWO

texas permian basinOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The only other Upset in the D2 rankings happened when the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS took the field against the visiting number 20 TEXAS A&M AT KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS. The Falcons converted a 13-10 Halftime edge into a 20-10 advantage in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 29-17 in the 4th. 

Nebraska-KearneyINSTANT CLASSICS – The UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS survived a 27-21 visit from the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS   ###   Elsewhere, the SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS won 28-21 at the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM   ###   And the WEST LIBERTY UNIVERSITY HILLTOPPERS defeated the home standing CONCORD UNIVERSITY MOUNTAIN LIONS 23-21. 

Livingstone_OLD2BLUE BEAR NECESSITIES – The LIVINGSTONE COLLEGE BLUE BEARS welcomed the BOWIE STATE BULLDOGS. The Blue Bears parlayed a 7-0 1st Quarter lead into a 17-6 advantage by Halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter, and in the 4th Livingstone College finalized their win 31-18.

West Chester Golden RamsIT’S GOOD TO BE THE GOLDEN RAMS – The ALBANY (GA) STATE GOLDEN RAMS managed a 33-27 road victory over the KENTUCKY STATE THOROBREDS    ###    And the WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY GOLDEN RAMS won a 24-21 Overtime thriller against the visiting BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY HUSKIES.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

wartburg knights helmetTROUBLE FOR WARTBURG – The number 3 team in the nation – the WARTBURG COLLEGE KNIGHTS – were in for a fight against the visiting COE COLLEGE KOHAWKS. The Kohawks led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 21-14 by the Half. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter, the 4th saw the Knights come back for a 27-21 victory.

University of New England Nor'eastersTHE COOLER TEAM NAME WON – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND NOR’EASTERS defeated the CASTLETON SPARTANS 31-14   ###   The MILLSAPS UNIVERSITY MAJORS won 14-8 at the BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN COLLEGE PANTHERS   ###   And the COLBY COLLEGE WHITE MULES downed their hosts the BATES COLLEGE BOBCATS 30-24.

Illinois College Blue Boys helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS took the field against the visiting MONMOUTH COLLEGE FIGHTING SCOTS. A 10-7 1st Quarter edge for the Blue Boys turned into a 14-13 lead for the Fighting Scots at the break. In the 3rd Quarter, Illinois College went back up 20-17, which wound up as the final score as well.

Maritime College PrivateersYOU WANT MORE ALL NAME GAMES? – The MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS won a 24-21 nail biter against the NORWICH UNIVERSITY CADETS   ###   Elsewhere, the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS defeated the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS 19-17   ###   And the WABASH COLLEGE LITTLE GIANTS won 31-13 at the OHIO WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BATTLING BISHOPS. 

NJCAA DIVISION ONE

Hutchinson Blue DragonsONE AND TWO ARE FIVE AND O – The number 1 team in the land – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – hammered their hosts the 10th ranked BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES to the tune of 43-16    ###    And the 2nd ranked IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS won a 28-13 home stand against the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES.

dodge city conquistadors NEWDODGE CITY SHOWDOWN – In this game the (15) DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS battled the visiting GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. The Conquistadors led 7-3 in the 1st Quarter and 21-10 at the break on their way to an authoritative 33-10 beatdown of the Broncbusters.

Tyler College Apaches helmet NEWWORKING OVERTIME – The (7) TYLER COLLEGE APACHES welcomed the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN and mustered a 16-13 O.T. victory over them    ###    And the (5) SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS won a 33-30 Overtime game on the road against the (13) GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS.

Coffeyville Red Ravens helmetSHUTOUTS – The COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS folded, spindled and mutilated the visiting ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS by a final tally of SIXTY-FOUR to NOTHING    ###    And the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES kicked around their guests the GORDON’S ACADEMY PANTHERS 49-0. 

NJCAA DIVISION THREE (no football in their D2)

DuPage ChaparralsTOP TWO TROUNCING – The number 1 COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS limited their guests the ERIE COLLEGE KATS to a Safety as they annihilated them 56-2    ###    And the NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS mauled the home standing CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS (should be Brainstorms) 44-19.

Minnesota State Tech SpartansKNOCKING OFF NUMBER THREE – The MINNESOTA STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPARTANS traveled to face the 3rd ranked ROCHESTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS in this game. The Spartans were up 17-3 at the break but the Yellow Jackets went on top 24-17 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th MSTC came from behind for a 32-29 Upset win.

Louisburg Hurricanes helmets NEWHURRICANE HOME STAND – The number 5 LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES defended their home field from the CENTRAL INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE CARDINALS yesterday. It wasn’t even close as the Hurricanes dominated on both sides of the ball to win the game 43-7.

Vermilion College Ironmen helmetFOUR QUARTERS WEREN’T ENOUGH – This game pitted the MINNESOTA NORTH COLLEGE AT VERMILION IRONHAWKS (formerly the Ironmen) against the visiting MINNESOTA WEST TECHNICAL COLLEGE BLUE JAYS. It took an extra session, but the Ironhawks eked out a 23-20 Overtime victory.

long beach collegeOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The (21) LONG BEACH CITY COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be Beachcombers) defeated the number 9 CERRITOS COLLEGE FALCONS 30-14   ###   Meanwhile, the (24) SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS downed the 13th ranked SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS 41-31   ###   And the ALLAN HANCOCK BULLDOGS won 17-10 at the (25) MOORPARK COLLEGE RAIDERS.

San Joaquin Delta MustangsUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The SAN JOAQUIN DELTA COLLEGE MUSTANGS faced their guests the FEATHER RIVER COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES and defeated them 19-14    ###    And the EL CAMINO COLLEGE WARRIORS notched a 31-24 road win against the BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES. 

Santa ana donsWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS took the field against the visiting LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE MONARCHS. By Halftime the score was a mere 3-0 in favor of the Monarchs. Neither team put up points in the 3rd Quarter, but the Dons won it 7-3 in the 4th.

Pierce CollegeROAD WARRIORS – The PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS visited the VICTOR VALLEY COLLEGE RAMS and beat them by a score of 34-27    ###    And the CONTRA COSTA COLLEGE COMETS smacked down their hosts the CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS 23-7.
