KNOCKING OFF NUMBER THREE – In the NAIA the number 6 team in the nation – the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS – traveled to face the 3rd ranked LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS. A 7-7 tie at Halftime turned into a 21-13 Wildcats lead to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th Bethel U. held on for a 21-16 Upset of the Blue Raiders.
NUMBER SEVEN TAKES A FALL – Down in NCAA Division Three the 19th ranked SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVER HAWKS played host to the number 7 JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS. The River Hawks put the Blue Jays on Upset Alert at the midpoint with a 14-12 edge. Each team scored 12 points in the 2nd Half for a 26-24 Susquehanna victory.
DOWN GOES NUMBER NINE – Up in NCAA Division 2 the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS welcomed the number 9 ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES. After a 7-7 1st Quarter tie the Chargers led 14-10 at the Half and then 22-20 in the 3rd Quarter before winning out by a final score of 36-20.
SEVENTY-FIVE UNANSWERED – Staying in D2 for a moment, this game featured a clash between the BLACK HILLS STATE YELLOW JACKETS and their guests the FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS. The Yellow Jackets parlayed a 17-0 opening Quarter lead into 37-0 come Halftime and ultimately into a SEVENTY-FIVE to NOTHING blowout victory.
USCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (think Shipbuilders) welcomed the LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES. The Builders led 17-7 at the Half and 24-9 in the 3rd Quarter before withstanding a Hurricanes rally in the 4th for a 40-37 triumph.
NUMBER SIX TOPPLED – Way down in the CCCAA the (12) BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS went up against the (6) SIERRA COLLEGE WOLVERINES. A 20-19 Wolverines lead at the break was followed by the Roadrunners shutting out Sierra College in the 2nd Half to win the game 46-20.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS were on the road against the 22nd ranked LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS. An odd 5-0 advantage for the Wildcats in the 1st Quarter became 21-0 at the midpoint of the game. From there LCU kept the Lions off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter as they won out 39-14.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR defeated the visiting MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS by a score of 21-13 ### Meanwhile, the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS survived a 43-40 visit from the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS ### And the UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS won 28-24 at the THOMAS MORE UNIVERSITY SAINTS.
SHUTOUTS – The PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (should be the Angels) blanked the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS in a 21-0 affair and the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM defeated the OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be the Okies) to the tune of 41-0.

UNHAPPY HOMECOMING – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS ruined Homecoming for the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be Purple Tigers). The Fighting Saints led 21-14 by Halftime and from there they outscored the Tigers 14-7 for a 35-21 triumph.
THREE-FOURTHS OF A TIGHT GAME – The VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG DRAGONS took it on the road against the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS yesterday. The Dragons were chasing their opponents 10-7 in the 1st Quarter, 17-14 at the Half and 24-20 in the 3rd. The Warriors scored 14 unanswered in the 4th Quarter to win the game 38-20.
SAGU, SAG ME – In this game the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS visited the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying Ws). A defense-oriented 1st Half ended with the Lions up 3-0. In the 3rd Quarter SAGU expanded that to a 20-0 lead and in the 4th logged a 30-0 victory.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS toppled the (12) INDIANA UNIVERSITY IN PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS 43-36 ### Elsewhere, the LIMESTONE COLLEGE SAINTS won 42-37 at the (16) NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES ### And the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS downed their hosts the (18) UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS COUGARS 38-24.
COLORADO CLASH – The COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDER WOLVES traveled to face the COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS. The Thunder Wolves led 10-7 and 24-21 in the first two Quarters before the defenses took over in the 2nd Half. The Mavericks went on top 28-24 in the 3rd Quarter but CSU-Pueblo came back for a 33-28 triumph in the 4th.
WORKING OVERTIME – The HENDERSON STATE REDDIES visited the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM and eked out a 42-41 victory in the extra session. And the SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE OWLS won a similar OT affair 23-22 at the AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-STOUT BLUE DEVILS held serve against the number 22 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS. By Halftime the Pioneers held a 7-6 edge but the Blue Devils knotted things up at 16-16 to end Regulation. The 1st Overtime ended in a 19-19 tie and the 2nd in a 22-22 deadlock. In TRIPLE OVERTIME UW-Stout got a Safety to win it 24-22.
ONE-POINT WONDERS – The CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS took it on the road against the MONTCLAIR STATE RED HAWKS and defeated them 14-13. And the COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS survived a 44-43 shootout with the visiting WITTENBERG UNIVERSITY TIGERS.
ALL-NAME GAME – The AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES played host to the CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS in this game. The Auggies led 14-7 in the 1st Quarter but the Cobbers went up 28-21 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 28-28 tie before Augsburg University managed a 38-35 win.

ONE AND TWO ROLL – The (1) HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS scorched the visiting HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES by a final score of 31-7. And after neither team scored the entire 1st Half, the (2) IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS defeated their hosts the IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS 35-21.
TUSSLE IN THE TOP TEN – The (9) COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS were on the road against the (10) BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES. The Grizzlies held a slender 14-13 edge at Halftime but after the break the Red Ravens came from behind for a 19-14 win.
ROAD WARRIORS – The NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN rained on Sophomore Day for the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS by beating them 28-17 ### The KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS won 31-14 at the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES ### And the GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS eviscerated the ASA (FL) COLLEGE SILVER STORM 59-0.

ONE-POINT WONDER – In this game the AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS visited the SANTA ROSA COLLEGE BEAR CUBS. The Beavers led 7-0 at the break and 10-0 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th ARC had to hold on by their fingertips against a Bear Cubs rally for a 16-15 win.
BLOWOUTS – The SHASTA COLLEGE KNIGHTS sent the COLLEGE OF THE SISKIYOUS EAGLES home reeling from a 47-14 smackdown ### Meanwhile the MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES won 38-6 at the CHAFFEY COLLEGE PANTHERS ### And the GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS downed their hosts the SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES 46-18.
FOUR QUARTERS WEREN’T ENOUGH – The LONG BEACH COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be the Beachcombers) played host to the BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES. By the midpoint of the game the score was knotted up at 3-3. Regulation ended in a 17-17 tie and in Overtime the Vikings won out 23-17.
