KNOCKING OFF NUMBER ONE – In NCAA Division 2 yesterday, the 2nd ranked GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS visited the number 1 FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 14-10 Bulldogs edge come Halftime. Ferris State made it a 21-10 game to end the 3rd Quarter but in the 4th the Lakers came storming back for a 22-21 Upset.
DOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – Staying in D2 for now, the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES traveled to face the 8th ranked HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON. The Reddies saw their 3-0 lead in the 1st Quarter become a 7-6 Bison lead by the midpoint. Harding U was on top 14-6 in the 3rd but Henderson State ultimately won the game 15-14.
NUMBER NINE TAKES A FALL – Over in the NAIA the 24th ranked AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) played host to the number 9 team in the nation – the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS. The Threshers were on top 7-0 in the opening Quarter and 14-7 at the Half. Avila University took a 21-14 lead in the 3rd Quarter before winning out 28-14 in the 4th.
MARATHON GAME OF THE DAY – The TRINE UNIVERSITY THUNDER traveled to face the OLIVET COLLEGE COMETS. The Comets led 14-6 by the break but the Thunder forced Overtime with a 24-24 tie to end Regulation. The 1st OT ended at 31-31 and the 2nd at 37-37. In TRIPLE OVERTIME Trine University forced a Safety to win the game 39-37.
HILLSDALE ON THE ROAD – Back in D2, the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took it on the road against the NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY TIMBERWOLVES. By the midpoint of the game the Chargers led 13-7. After the break, Hillsdale shut out the Timberwolves while piling on the points for a 41-7 beatdown.
SEVENTY UNANSWERED – The unaffiliated LINCOLN (CA) UNIVERSITY OAKLANDERS visited D3’s HILBERT COLLEGE HAWKS. The Oaklanders parlayed a 14-0 1st Quarter lead into a 49-0 Halftime advantage. From there, Lincoln University coasted to a monumental SEVENTY to NOTHING blowout.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The only other Upset in the NAIA rankings came in the game between the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS and the visiting WALDORF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS. The Blue Hawks limited the Warriors to just 7 points in the 1st Quarter while scoring 10, 14 and 6 points themselves in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. Dickinson State added 20 more points in the 4th to win the game 50-7.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (should be the Angels) won a 21-19 thriller at the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS ### Meanwhile, the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR defeated the visiting MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS 21-16 ### And the MID-AMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS held serve 20-16 against the BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS.
OFF THE SCHNEID – The TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS at last notched their first win for 2022, against the home standing LYON COLLEGE SCOTS. The Scots seemed in control, having accumulated a 34-16 advantage by the end of the 3rd Quarter. The Steers exploded in the 4th for a 38-34 comeback win.
ROAD WARRIORS – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS won 45-26 at the MADONNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS ### The AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES won a 31-27 thriller at the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS ### And the PERU STATE BOBCATS defeated the CLARKE UNIVERSITY PRIDE 16-9.

MASSACRE – The GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS welcomed the WESTMINSTER (MO) BLUE JAYS in this game. The Panthers dominated on both sides of the ball, leading the Blue Jays 21-0 at Halftime on their way to a 52-0 shutout victory.
INSTANT CLASSIC – On Saturday the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS paid a visit to the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 20-14 Tigers lead by the Half. The Fighting Bees were chasing their opponents the rest of the way as ONU won the game 34-28.
TRIPLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY LAKERS traveled to face the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS. The Lakers put up 21 points each Half while holding the Trojans to a mere 7 points per Half. The final tally was Roosevelt U. 42 TIU 14.
RED RIVER ROUT – The SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS took the field against their guests the OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be the Okies). The Lions grabbed a quick 17-6 advantage in the opening Quarter on their way to a 41-18 triumph.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The EMPORIA STATE HORNETS crushed the home standing (13) NEBRASKA-KEARNEY LOPERS 44-21 ### Elsewhere, the (23) BENEDICT COLLEGE TIGERS won 24-20 at the (14) ALBANY STATE GOLDEN RAMS ### And the SAGINAW VALLEY STATE CARDINALS defeated the (16) UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS 38-14.
SHOOTOUT – In this game the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS found themselves on the road against the MCKENDREE UNIVERSITY BEARCATS. A 49-28 Bearcats lead at Halftime became a 49-49 tie to end the 3rd Quarter and 56-56 to end Regulation. In Overtime the Hawks won 63-62 off a missed PAT by Mckendree.
ONE-POINT WONDERS – The WESTERN COLORADO MOUNTAINEERS won a 28-27 nail biter at the BLACK HILLS STATE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS. And the TUSCULUM COLLEGE PIONEERS were likewise on the road and logged a 10-9 win against the UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA AT WISE HIGHLAND CAVALIERS.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The LAKE ERIE COLLEGE STORM paid a call on the WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS yesterday. The Storm led 7-6 in the 1st Quarter but the Cavaliers went up 15-7 by the Half. A scoreless 3rd Quarter was followed by Lake Erie College coming from behind for a 15-15 tie to force OT. From there, the Storm won out 22-15.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
UPSET IN THE RANKINGS – The only Upset yesterday in the D3 rankings came in the game pitting the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS against the visiting number 14 UW-RIVER FALLS FALCONS. The Pioneers put the Falcons on Upset Alert at Halftime with a 14-7 edge, the carried through with a 21-14 victory.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The METHODIST UNIVERSITY MONARCHS paid a call on the NORTH CAROLINA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BISHOPS and beat them 34-33 ### The CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS COLLEGE STAGS eviscerated the CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN 41-3 ### And the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES won easily 44-7 at the HAMLINE UNIVERSITY PIPERS.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A POLO MATCH BROKE OUT – In this game the ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS took it on the road against the WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. By Halftime the score was knotted up at 7-7 before the Profs won out 14-9 in the end.
IF IT ISN’T SCOTTISH, IT’S CRAP – The COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS won a 42-41 squeaker at the KENYON COLLEGE LORDS ### The ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS improved to 6-0 by beating the HOPE COLLEGE FLYING DUTCHMEN 28-26 ### And the MARYVILLE COLLEGE SCOTS crushed the SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS 45-7 in their own house.

TUSSLE IN THE TOP TEN – The number 8 BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES took the field against the visiting 10th ranked IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS. The Grizzlies led 21-14 come Halftime and from there got more and more separation from their opponents for a 42-24 victory.
WHY DON’T WE DO IT ON THE ROAD? – The SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS visited the HUDSON VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be the Frisians) and beat them 28-19 ### Meanwhile, the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS won 20-7 at the THADDEUS STEVENS TECHNICAL COLLEGE BULLDOGS ### And the NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS downed the MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE 29-20.
INSTANT CLASSIC – In this game the SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS played their guests the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. By the Half the Badgers were on top 8-7. Neither team scored in the defense-heavy 3rd Quarter before Snow College went on to beat the Broncbusters 23-20 in the 4th.
POTPOURRI – The DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS prevailed over the visiting ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS 21-14. And the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES traveled to face the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS and won out 42-24.
