HEADLINES
DOWN GOES NUMBER TWO – Down in NCAA Division Three the 20th ranked BETHEL (MN) ROYALS played host to the number 2 team in the nation – the SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 10-7 Johnnies edge at the break and 17-14 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th the Royals came from behind for a 28-24 victory.
NUMBER THREE TAKES A FALL – In NCAA Division Two the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (their spelling) welcomed the 3rd ranked NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS. The Bronchos put the Bearcats on Upset Alert by Halftime with a 13-7 lead, then carried through from there, winning the game 23-14.
AND NUMBER SIX COMES TUMBLING AFTER – This D2 game pitted the traveling DELTA STATE STATESMEN against the number 6 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS. In DOUBLE OVERTIME the Statesmen emerged with a 45-42 Upset win.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER SEVEN – Staying in D2 the 9th ranked OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS played host to the number 7 HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON. The Tigers held a slender 14-13 edge at the midpoint of the game, then scored the only points of the 2nd Half to win out 21-13.
TOP TEAMS ROLLING – Over in the NAIA the (1) MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS had a Bye this week, while the (2) GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS (should be the Zebras) won handily 27-7 at the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR ### And the (3) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS defeated the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS 21-12.
CLOSE GAME FOR HILLSDALE – Back in D2 the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took it on the road against the MISSOURI S&T MINERS. A 3-0 1st Quarter lead for the Chargers became 10-3 at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 10-10 tie and the 4th in a 17-10 Hillsdale College victory.
THE USCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS hosted the CAPP ACADEMY CRUSADERS. The score was knotted up at 14-14 come Halftime but by the early part of the 4th Quarter the Crusaders built up a 32-14 lead. A furious Mechanics rally fell just short as Capp Academy won out 32-30.

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS visited the (16) UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS and toppled them 25-20 ### Meanwhile, the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS won 33-24 at the (17) MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS ### The (22) SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY TOMCATS crushed the (21) SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE 34-14 ### And the CLARKE UNIVERSITY PRIDE won 20-19 at the (23) BAKER WILDCATS.
ONE-POINT WONDER – In this game the TABOR COLLEGE BLUEJAYS found themselves on the road against the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS. A 7-3 1st Quarter edge for the Bluejays was unchanged at Halftime. The Warriors went up 10-7 in the 3rd Quarter, but Tabor College came back in the action-packed 4th for a 21-20 victory.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The DOANE UNIVERSITY TIGERS won a 13-10 Overtime affair against the home standing DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS ### And the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Fury) won 23-20 in the extra session against the visiting UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS.

SPIRIT OF BLOWOUTS – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT welcomed the LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. The Wildcats led 6-0 in the opening Quarter but the Spirit took over from there. Ottawa U. was on top 10-6 at the Half, 38-6 in the 3rd Quarter and 45-13 to end the 4th.
INSTANT CLASSIC – This game pitted the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS against their guests the UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY OILERS. A 17-17 deadlock at Halftime became a 20-20 tie by the end of the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th the Crusaders pulled out a 34-27 win.
ROAD RUMBLE – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM traveled to face the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 19-7 Firestorm advantage at the midpoint. From there Arizona Christian University went on to win it 28-20.
NCAA DIVISION TWO
THE METEOROLOGY BOWL – The SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM visited the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM on Saturday. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 21-21 deadlock by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Savage Storm up 27-24 but the Crimson Storm exploded in the 4th for a 45-34 triumph.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE WASPS managed a 17-10 road win in Overtime against the WINGATE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS ### Elsewhere, the (25) WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS won 38-31 in OT at the MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS ### And by that exact same score the SW OKLAHOMA BULLDOGS got an OT win at the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON.
SQUARING THE COMPETITION – In this game the CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS (as in the Roman god Vulcan) took the field against the EDINBORO UNIVERSITY FIGHTING SCOTS. The Vulcans seized a 21-7 lead in the opening Quarter and never looked back from there. In the end Cal (PA) won the game 49-7.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS took the field against the visiting number 19 HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES and trounced them 24-7 ### And the UTICA COLLEGE PIONEERS logged a 31-24 road Upset of the 25th ranked UNION COLLEGE DUTCHMEN.
TELL IT TO THE LUTHERANS – The CAL LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN paid a visit to the PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY LUTES. The Lutes led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 14-7 come Halftime. The Kingsmen shut out their opponents in the 2nd Half and followed up a scoreless 3rd Quarter by winning the game 17-14.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES won a 23-6 victory at the CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS ### Meanwhile, the LORAS COLLEGE DUHAWKS defeated the visiting NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES 49-31 ### And the SAINT OLAF COLLEGE OLES won a tight 38-32 affair at the MACALESTER COLLEGE SCOTS.

DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE – The (2) HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS traveled to face the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS and downed them by a score of 14-9 ### And the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS won a similarly low-scoring game 14-6 at the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES.
CONQUEST IN DODGE CITY – The DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS welcomed the DIAMOND ACADEMY CELTICS yesterday. The Conquistadors grabbed a quick 19-0 lead over the Celtics in the 1st Quarter and ultimately parlayed that into a healthy 46-6 triumph.
TIGHT GAMES – The top ranked defending National Champions – the NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) survived a 24-21 visit from the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS ### And the MINNESOTA STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPARTANS won 40-36 against the NASSAU COUNTY COLLEGE LIONS.
