NCAA DIVISION TWO
TAKING DOWN NUMBER TWELVE – The PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS traveled to face the 12th ranked UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-KEARNEY LOPERS. A 7-0 Lopers lead in the 1st Quarter became a 21-14 advantage for them by Halftime. The Gorillas went on top 28-14 going into the 4th Quarter, then won the game by a final score of 35-28.
MARATHON MEN – In this game the UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTON GOLDEN EAGLES visited the FAIRMONT STATE FALCONS. The Golden Eagles led the Falcons 21-7 at the Half but Fairmont State came back to knot things up 28-28 to end Regulation. The 1st Overtime ended in a 35-35 deadlock and the 2nd with the score 38-38. Neither team mustered points in the 3rd OT, and the University of Charleston won with a Safety, 40-38, in the FOURTH OVERTIME.
HAPPY HOME STANDS – The LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS took the field against their guests the ALDERSON-BROADDUS UNIVERSITY BATTLERS and defeated them 30-17 ### And the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS folded, spindled and mutilated the visiting TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS to the tune of 53-14.
A TALE OF TWO HALVES – This game pitted the number 22 WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS against their hosts the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES. By Halftime the Mules held a 24-19 edge, while after the break the Ichabods outscored UCM 21-8 for a 40-32 victory.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN – The MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS were the Road Warriors of the evening against the FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS. The Griffons were out in front 21-7 at the midpoint before winning the game by a final tally of 35-19.

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER FIVE – The number 9 team in the nation – the JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS – welcomed the 5th ranked EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS. The opening Quarter ended with the Bobcats holding a tight 10-7 edge before taking control of the game the rest of the way. When all was said and done, Jones College toppled the Lions 42-28.
WILD AT HEART – The PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS visited the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS. The defenses dominated the 1st Half, with the Wildcats leading by a mere 6-0 at the break. The Tigers made that a 6-6 tie to end the 3rd Quarter, following which Pearl River College won it in the 4th by a score of 20-13.
BY THE SKIN OF THEIR TEETH – In this game the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS let a commanding 24-0 Halftime lead slip away against the home standing HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. The Rangers had to hold on by their fingertips against a furious 2nd Half rally by the Eagles, eking out a tight 31-28 victory in the end.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The HOLMES COLLEGE BULLDOGS were on the road against the EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WARRIORS last night. A 14-14 1st Quarter score became 21-21 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 34-34 tie before the Bulldogs emerged with a 41-37 win.
ROAD RAGE – The COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK hammered their hosts the MISSISSIPPI DELTA COLLEGE TROJANS by a count of 37-7 ### Meanwhile, the COAHOMA COLLEGE TIGERS won 28-15 at the SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE BEARS ### And the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE BULLDOGS mauled the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS 37-13.
CCCAA
THREE FOURTHS – In this game the GROSSMONT COLLEGE GRIFFINS traveled to face the SOUTHWESTERN (CA) COLLEGE JAGUARS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 17-14 Jaguars edge at Halftime. That became a 31-27 lead for Southwestern College in the 3rd Quarter before the Griffins owned the 4th, winning the game 41-31.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The (9) MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES utterly eviscerated the visiting LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE MONARCHS in a 69-7 laugher ### Elsewhere, the (22) BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES crushed the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS 59-12 ### And the MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE LOBOS clobbered the YUBA COLLEGE FORTY-NINERS 43-12.
GRUDGE MATCH – The (12) COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS (should be Redwoods) paid a call on the (19) BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS. The Roadrunners were up 7-6 in the opening Quarter but the Giants led 18-7 at the Half. Butte College outscored their opponents 26-21 from there, but lost to the College of the Sequoias 39-33.
BET ON THE COOLER NAMED TEAM – The (6) GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS pounded the ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES to the tune of 41-7 ### The (16) SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS won 42-20 at the WEST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE WILDCATS ### And the CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS defeated the visiting COLLEGE OF THE SISKIYOUS EAGLES 41-24.
DOMINANT DEFENSES – This game pitted the (7) AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS against their guests the SACRAMENTO CITY COLLEGE PANTHERS. By the break the Beavers were in the lead 10-7, and the 3rd Quarter ended with the Panthers up 13-12. American River College won out in the 4th by a score of 15-13.
