NUMBER SIX TAKES A FALL – In the NAIA the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS played host to the nation’s number 6 team – the REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Rottweilers). In this tale of two Halves the Wildcats were on top 21-0 by the midpoint. In the 2nd Half a furious Reinhardt University rally fell just short as Bethel U won out 34-33.
HILLSDALE HOME STAND – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took the field against the visiting MISSOURI S&T MINERS. The Miners led the Chargers 10-7 in the opening Quarter and 24-17 at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Missouri S&T in front 31-24 before Hillsdale College came back in the 4th for a 38-31 victory.
DOWN GOES NUMBER SEVEN – NCAA Division Two’s 22nd ranked HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON welcomed the number 7 team in the nation – the OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS. A 14-7 1st Quarter edge for the Bison became a 24-7 advantage by the Half. After the break both teams scored 14 more points as Harding University upset OBU 38-21.
AND NUMBER EIGHT COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Staying in D2 for the moment, the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS traveled to take on the 8th ranked SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS. The Golden Bears put the Rams on Upset Alert with their 24-14 lead at the Half, then followed through with a 37-29 triumph to end the game.
NAIA VERSUS NCAA – This week the NAIA’s TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS welcomed the NCAA Division Three team the GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. The Panthers held a slight 14-13 edge at Halftime but the Trojans came back for a 26-21 win. So far in 2021 the NAIA has won 2 weeks, D3 has won 1 week and the teams tied last week.
UNITED STATES COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION – In USCAA football the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS notched a 20-6 road victory over the GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS ### But the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (as in Shipbuilders) fell 30-28 at the FERRUM COLLEGE PANTHERS.
TOPPLING NUMBER FIVE – In NJCAA football the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES welcomed the nation’s 5th ranked MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Bulldogs were on top 31-23 at Halftime but after the break the Eagles came out of the locker room on fire and went on to a 42-37 comeback win.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The traveling COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES knocked off the (11) EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS 24-7 ### The SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS shocked the nation with their 38-0 rout of the (13) UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS ### And the (21) SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS downed their hosts the (15) AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (Avalanche) 34-26.
TIGHTER THAN TIGHT – The SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS (should be the Sea Gulls) played host to the CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS on Saturday. The Fighting Saints led 17-10 at the midpoint and 20-10 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the action packed 4th SOU roared back for a 34-33 triumph.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS won 36-28 at the MOUNT MARTY UNIVERSITY LANCERS ### Meanwhile the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS defeated their hosts the MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS 31-28 ### And the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS downed the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS 20-16.
OFF THE SCHNEID – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES got off the schneid for 2021 against the visiting FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS. The Spires kept their opponents off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter while compiling a 27-0 and 34-0 lead in the 1st and 2nd Quarters. In the end the University of Saint Mary eviscerated the Falcons FIFTY-FIVE to SEVEN.
ROAD ROUTS – The DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS hammered the home standing DOANE UNIVERSITY TIGERS 27-7 ### The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT manhandled their hosts the LOUISIANA COLLEGE WILDCATS 49-19 ### And the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES dismembered the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES to the tune of 54-0.
ONE POINT WONDER – The KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS battled the visiting AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES yesterday. A 7-6 1st Quarter edge for the Knights became a 9-7 lead for the Gyrenes at Halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but an explosive 4th saw KCU win a 20-19 nailbiter.
ROAD ROYALS – The WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS took it on the road against the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS. Despite being on top 10-0 in the opening Quarter and 17-10 in the 2nd, the Royals trailed the Bulldogs 24-17 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th Warner University came back for a 31-24 victory.
CLASH OF TITANS – This game pitted the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM against the visiting SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. By the Half the Firestorm had built up a 31-17 advantage but the Lions cut that to a 38-31 edge in the 3rd Quarter. From there ACU won out 52-45.
LEARNING CURVE – The NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS traveled to face the ERSKINE COLLEGE FLYING FLEET, who are playing their first year of intercollegiate football. By Halftime the Crusaders were out in front of the Flying Fleet 21-7. After the break NGU coasted to a 38-7 victory.
WAR HAWKS IN FLIGHT – The MCMURRY UNIVERSITY WAR HAWKS welcomed the SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY PIRATES in this game. The War Hawks overcame a 10-3 1st Quarter deficit to go on top 21-10 by the Half. From there McMurry U managed a hard-fought 41-31 triumph.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The WAYNE STATE (NE) WILDCATS won 31-28 at the (11) MINNESOTA-DULUTH BULLDOGS ### The (13) TIFFIN UNIVERSITY DRAGONS fell 38-35 to the visiting TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS ### Meanwhile the OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS won 19-16 at the (19) UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS ### And the MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE CHOCTAWS offed the (25) WEST ALABAMA TIGERS 56-45.
ARKANSAS ARMAGEDDON – In this game the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS found themselves on the road against the ARKANSAS TECH WONDER BOYS. The Wonder Boys held a 10-7 edge at Halftime before the Boll Weevils tied things up at 13-13 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th UAM won the game 27-20.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The NORTHEASTERN STATE RIVERHAWKS edged the LINCOLN (MO) UNIVERSITY BLUE TIGERS 49-48 in OT ### And in DOUBLE OVERTIME the BLACK HILLS STATE YELLOW JACKETS outlasted the ADAMS STATE GRIZZLIES by a score of 51-48.
STORM FRONT – The SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM visited the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM. The Savage Storm led the Crimson Storm 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 24-3 by Halftime. After the break Southeastern Oklahoma State notched an easy 31-10 victory.
COOL NAME GAMES – The (21) NEBRASKA-KEARNEY LOPERS notched a 31-28 road win at the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES ### The MINNESOTA STATE-MOORHEAD DRAGONS defeated the UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY PEACOCKS 33-28 ### And the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS held off the MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS 47-41.

PUTTING IN OVERTIME – This game pitted the WILLIAMS COLLEGE EPHS (“eephs”) against their hosts the TUFTS UNIVERSITY JUMBOS. The White Mules led 7-0 in the opening Quarter but the Mammoths knotted things up at 7-7 by the Half. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter Colby College won this defensive epic 10-7 in the 4th.
MIGHTY ENGINEERS – The RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS smacked around the visiting SAINT JOHN FISHER COLLEGE CARDINALS by a final tally of 41-7 ### And the MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERS won 27-0 at the DEAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS.
HUTCH ON THE WARPATH – The storied HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS took out their anger for an early season stumble on the visiting FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS yesterday. The Blue Dragons parlayed a 17-0 1st Quarter lead into a 27-6 advantage by Halftime. From there Hutchinson College sent the Greyhounds home reeling from a 55-6 scorching.
HOME STANDS – The NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN took the field against the visiting NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS and routed them 39-15 ### Meanwhile the NASSAU COUNTY COLLEGE LIONS defeated the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS 17-3 ### And the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS tore apart the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES 65-20.
SEVENTY-FOUR – This game pitted the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS against their guests the LOUISIANA COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE HUSKIES. By the midpoint the Buccaneers were out in front by a score of 26-6, then went on to fold, spindle and mutilate the Huskies for a SEVENTY-FOUR to TWELVE blowout win.
NAILBITER – The MINNESOTA WEST BLUE JAYS played host to the ROCHESTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS. The Yellow Jackets held a 10-7 edge to end the 1st Quarter but by Halftime the Blue Jays were on top 14-10. After the break Minnesota West kept up the intensity for a 21-17 victory.
ROAD WARRIORS – The INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES doubled up on the home standing GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS by a final score of 26-13 ### And the GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS triumphed 24-6 at the SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS.
