BLUEFIELD CONQUERS DIVISION TWO – The NAIA’s BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS took it on the road against the NCAA Division Two team the EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE WASPS. For newbies this is like when 1AA teams take on 1A teams. Trailing 38-17 in the 4th Quarter the Rambling Rams came back to win 46-45!
GIANT-KILLERS – This week 3 NCAA Division 3 teams imitated the NAIA’s usual schtick of defeating teams from higher divisions. The UW-OSHKOSH TITANS won 28-10 at D2’s NORTHERN MICHIGAN WILDCATS ### Meanwhile the LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS hammered D2’s SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY CLAN 56-20 ### And the WHITWORTH UNIVERSITY PIRATES edged D2’s LINCOLN (CA) UNIVERSITY OAKLANDERS 31-29.
HISTORY WAS MADE – The BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUE managed the FIRST victory for their revived intercollegiate football program! After losing last week the Big Blue visited the ELIZABETH CITY STATE VIKINGS. Bluefield State trailed 21-0 in the 1st Quarter but tied things up 21-21 by Halftime. The Vikings went up 27-21 in the 3rd but the Big Blue came back to win it 35-27.
MARATHON GAME OF THE WEEK – This particular designation goes to the clash between the SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVER HAWKS and their hosts the FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS. It took FIVE OVERTIMES before the River Hawks emerged with a 30-28 victory.
TAKEDOWNS IN THE TOP FIVE – In NCAA Division Two the UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH BULLDOGS stunned the visiting 3rd ranked MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS with a 30-10 Upset ### And the traveling MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS knocked off the number 5 TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS in a 31-30 nailbiter.
USCAA FOOTBALL – In the United States Collegiate Athletic Association the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (as in Shipbuilders) won a 34-27 Overtime affair at the BREVARD COLLEGE TORNADOS ### And the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS managed a 35-26 comeback win over their hosts the NEW JERSEY WARRIORS.
UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS triumphed 42-30 at the number 11 DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS ### And the PERU STATE BOBCATS sent the 17th ranked BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS back home reeling from a 45-21 beatdown.
TUSSLE IN THE TOP FOUR – The number 1 team in the nation – the defending National Champion LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS – welcomed the 4th ranked KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS. This highly anticipated game turned out to be no contest as the Blue Raiders went out in front 13-0 in the 1st Quarter and 27-2 at Halftime before winning the game 34-2.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – This game pitted the NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS against the home standing MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS (should be the Lutherans). The Red Raiders led 10-6 at the Half but the Warriors came back to force Overtime with a 29-29 tie. In the extra session Northwestern College emerged with a 35-29 triumph.
HOME STANDS – The UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES routed the visiting MOUNT MARTY UNIVERSITY LANCERS by a score of 35-6 ### Meanwhile the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS mangled their guests the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS 59-3 ### And the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS won a much closer 31-14 affair over the BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS.
ONE-POINT WONDER – The WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN played host to the MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. The Statesmen led 21-7 after 1 Quarter of play but trailed the Pioneers 28-21 at the midpoint. The 3rd Quarter ended with MNU on top 35-28 before William Penn University took the game 45-44.
THE “GREEN-FORD” GAME – This game pitted the GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS against the home standing ROCKFORD UNIVERSITY REGENTS (should be the Files). The Panthers led 14-0, 41-14 and 41-21 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively. In the 4th Greenville U dispatched the rallying Regents 57-42.
FIRST RESPONDERS DAY – The KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES marked this event by taking on the visiting STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS. A 10-0 1st Quarter lead for the Coyotes became 17-7 at Halftime. From there Kansas Wesleyan University shut out Sterling College for a 31-7 victory.
ROAD WARRIORS – The CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS traveled to face the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES yesterday. The Cardinals saw a commanding 21-0 advantage at the break get cut to 21-7 by the Fighting Bees to end the 3rd Quarter. Concordia U pulled away in the 4th to win the game 34-14.
WIN IT IN THE FOURTH – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT found themselves in battle with the home standing SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. A 28-7 Halftime lead for the Spirit became 28-21 as the Lions roared in the 3rd Quarter. A 42-28 Ottawa U triumph was the final result.
CRUSADE IN SOUTH CAROLINA – In this game the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS paid a visit to the NEWBERRY COLLEGE WOLVES. Come Halftime the Crusaders had managed a 21-14 lead over the Wolves. From there the defenses dominated with North Greenville University ultimately notching a 24-14 victory.

ADDITIONAL UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM edged the (12) HARDING BISON 32-31 ### The (21) GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS routed the (15) COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDER WOLVES 34-14 ### Meanwhile the (20) INDIANA UNIVERSITY IN PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS downed the (16) KUTZTOWN GOLDEN BEARS 29-26 ### And the UN-KEARNEY LOPERS won 28-17 at the (24) PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS.
CLASH OF TITANS – The (13) UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS took it on the road against the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS yesterday. The Greyhounds were out in front 21-10 at Halftime and 28-17 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th a Chargers rally fell just short as UI won the game 35-31.
EXTRA SESSIONS – The UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY OILERS defeated the visiting UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT PEMBROKE BRAVES 34-28 in Overtime ### And in DOUBLE OVERTIME the CHOWAN UNIVERSITY HAWKS won 46-39 at the TUSCULUM COLLEGE PIONEERS.
GETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Thursday night the MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS welcomed the FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS. The Griffons held a 10-7 edge in the 1st Quarter but the Tigers went up 17-10 by Halftime. Missouri Western State knotted things up at 17-17 in the 3rd Quarter and then put away Fort Hills State by a final tally of 38-31.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The HENDERSON STATE REDDIES eviscerated the NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS to the tune of 55-7 ### Meanwhile the WEST LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS shut out their hosts the ALDERSON-BROADDUS UNIVERSITY BATTLERS 24-0 ### And the CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY (PA) VULCANS obliterated the LOCK HAVEN UNIVERSITY BALD EAGLES FIFTY-NINE to NOTHING!

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES toppled the visiting number 15 WARTBURG UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS by a score of 27-18 ### And the ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS exploded all over the 20th ranked SUNY-BROCKPORT GOLDEN EAGLES in a 23-8 Upset.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The MUSKINGUM UNIVERSITY MUSKIES played host to the OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS yesterday. A 14-7 1st Quarter lead for the Muskies was cut to a 20-17 edge come Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Muskingum U on top 30-24, then a Polar Bears rally fell just short 33-31 as the Muskies held on.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND NOR’EASTERS won 23-20 in Overtime at the BRIDGEWATER STATE BEARS ### Meanwhile the MORAVIAN COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS defeated their hosts the GETTYSBURG COLLEGE BULLETS 16-13 in the extra session ### And the AVERETT UNIVERSITY COUGARS survived a 30-27 OT visit from the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS.
ONE POINT WONDER – The NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES traveled to face the AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves were chasing the Auggies 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but led 13-7 at the Half. After the break Nebraska Wesleyan U had to hold on by their fingertips for a 20-19 victory over Augsburg University.
SHUTOUTS – The WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS humiliated the SEWANEE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH TIGERS with a 52-0 lambasting ### The ALBION COLLEGE BRITONS nearly matched that with a 51-0 blowout win at the DEFIANCE COLLEGE HORNETS ### And the DENISON UNIVERSITY BIG RED blanked the ALLEGHENY COLLEGE ALLIGATORS 31-0.
ONE SIDE WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – The GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS won a 76-24 blowout at the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS ### Meanwhile the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES manhandled the visiting MCDOUGLE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE BISON 69-0 ### And the SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS crushed the GILA RIVER COLLEGE HAWKS in a 63-0 laugher.
UNDER THE RADAR GRUDGE MATCH – This game pitted the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS against their guests, the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS. The Red Ravens led 19-7 by Halftime but the Conquistadors cut that to 19-13 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th Coffeyville College managed a Field Goal to win it 22-13.
ROAD WARRIORS – The IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS won 41-14 at the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS ### The BUTLER (KS) COLLEGE GRIZZLIES downed the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS 43-23 ### And the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS hammered the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS to the tune of 49-17.
SHOOTOUT – The TYLER COLLEGE APACHES took the field to welcome the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS yesterday. By the midpoint the teams were knotted up at 34-34. After the break the points continued to fly like shrapnel with the Apaches winning out by a final tally of 69-57.
SHUTOUT – In this game the GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS played host to the ASA (FL) COLLEGE SILVER STORM. Unfortunately for Silver Storm fans they fell to 0-2 in this contest. The Bulldogs were defensive perfection against their opponents and in the end walked away with a 13-0 victory.
