And the Covid-delayed games roll on –
NJCAA
HISTORY WAS MADE – The SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS are playing their very first season of intercollegiate football and have now logged their first W, three games in. The Skylanders welcomed the CAPP ACADEMY CRUSADERS and dominated their opponents on both sides of the ball. By the time the dust settled Sussex County College had triumphed by a score of 48-8.
DEFENSIVE EPIC – The 4-0 GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS traveled to face the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Pirates held a 7-0 lead at Halftime. Neither team was able to put up points in the 3rd Quarter, but then in a comparatively action-packed 4th the Broncbusters’ offense finally came alive for a 14-10 triumph and a 5-0 record to this point.
SHUTOUTS – And speaking of defense, these games saw defensive perfection: the IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS took it on the road against the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES and smoked them in a 45-0 affair ### And the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS won a 30-0 shutout while visiting the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – This game pitted the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES against their hosts, the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN. A 3-0 1st Quarter edge for the Apaches turned into a 10-3 lead for the Golden Norsemen at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 10-10 tie, followed by a 4th which saw Tyler College emerge with a 24-17 victory.
WHY DON’T WE DO IT ON THE ROAD? – See what I did there? The KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS notched an entertaining 52-38 road win at the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS ### And the IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS folded, spindled and mutilated their hosts the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS to the tune of FIFTY-EIGHT to SIX.
HAPPY HOMESTANDS – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) routed the visiting BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS 35-16 ### Meanwhile the CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS defeated their guests the TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS 24-7 ### And the SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS won a 27-6 clash with the ASA (FL) COLLEGE SILVER STORM.
