NAIA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT DAY TWO

Loyola WolfpackDAY TWO: GAME ONE – The (11) LOYOLA UNIVERSITY (LA) WOLFPACK served up another big-time Upset against the (6) MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS.

The Wolfpack utterly humiliated the Knights with smothering defense in the opening Half, leading them 36-19 at the midpoint. From there Marian University could not dig itself out of the hole it was in, and their furious rally attempt was stopped short by Loyola. The final score was Wolfpack 69  Knights 62. Zach Wrightsil led the victors with 19 points.

Carroll College fighting saints logoDAY TWO: GAME TWO – And speaking of Upsets, Day One saw the top seed go down and Day Two saw the 2nd seed fall as the (15) CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS toppled the (2) WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN.

The Fighting Saints put the Statesmen on Upset Alert by Halftime with their 40-30 advantage, then poured it on in the 2nd Half, ultimately crushing William Penn U to the tune of 85-62. Yes, 85-62. Carroll College was led in scoring by Josh Watkins, who put up 15 points. 

sagu lionsDAY TWO: GAME THREE – This game pitted the (7) SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS against the (10) MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS.

At the Half the Lions were clinging to a mere 44-43 edge over the Mustangs. After the break, the contest was hard fought, but the Southwestern Assemblies of God University managed a bit more separation from Morningside for a 90-85 triumph. Joshua Kashila tossed in 20 points to lead the Lions while his teammate Joel Polius logged a Double-Double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

lcsc warriorsDAY TWO: GAME FOUR – The (3) LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS (should be the Explorers) faced the (14) OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Crimson Eagles).

By Halftime the Warriors had compiled a 40-31 lead, following which Lewis-Clark State slowly left the Eagles further and further behind to win the game by a final tally of 86-72. Twenty-One points from Hodges Bailey led the Warriors in scoring, with LCSC’s Trystan Bradley contributing a Double-Double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
