Conference Champs move on to the NAIA National Tournament.
CROSSROADS LEAGUE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The two teams left standing in the battle for this conference’s crown were the 2nd seeded MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS and the 4 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS.
By Halftime the Knights were in possession of a comfortable 41-30 advantage. After the break, Marian U managed a bit more separation from the Cougars for an 86-71 triumph led by Brayton Bailey and Antwaan Cushingberry, who put up 16 points each. * THE KNIGHTS ARE 2021 CHAMPIONS OF THE CROSSROADS LEAGUE *
FRONTIER CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title tilt pitted the top seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF PROVIDENCE (MT) ARGONAUTS – against the 2nd seeded CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS.
The Argonauts were on top of the Fighting Saints 32-25 by the midpoint. From there, the University of Providence poured it on, ultimately winning the game by a very comfortable margin of 77-57. Rashee Stocks tossed in 20 points to lead the Argos while teammate Zaccheus Darko-Kelly notched a Double-Double of 16 points and 12 rebounds. * THE ARGONAUTS ARE 2021 CHAMPIONS OF THE FRONTIER CONFERENCE *
GULF COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top 2 seeds in the conference were the survivors for this championship game, too. The 2nd seeded XAVIER UNIVERSITY (LA) GOLD RUSH took the court against the top seeds – the TALLADEGA COLLEGE TORNADOES.
The Gold Rush put the Tornadoes on Upset Alert by the Half with their 34-31 edge. After the break Xavier University consummated that Upset with a 70-60 triumph. Rayshawn Mart led the way for the victorious Gold Rush with his 25 points. * THE GOLD RUSH ARE 2021 CHAMPIONS OF THE GULF COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *
KANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Chalk ruled this conference tourney as well, with the 2 teams who fought their way to the title game being the top seeds – the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS – and the 2nd seeded OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Crimson Eagles).
The Threshers were up 35-30 at Halftime, but then had to hold on by their fingertips in the 2nd Half as an Eagles rally fell just short. In the end Bethel College emerged with a tight 73-72 win. The scoring for the Threshers was led by Clifford Byrd II with 16 points. His teammate Jaylon Scott registered a Double-Double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. * THE THRESHERS ARE 2021 CHAMPIONS OF THE KANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *
The Argos are the best, dude!
