NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The number 1 team in the nation – the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE BULLDOGS – took on the 2nd ranked LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS for the NJCAA crown. A 7-0 Bulldogs lead in the 1st Quarter became a 13-10 advantage for the Falcons by Halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but Mississippi Gulf Coast exploded in the 4th to win the game 24-13. * THE BULLDOGS ARE NJCAA CHAMPIONS *

FIRST SEMIFINAL – The MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS, the defending National Champions, hosted the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS (should be the Zebras). The Mustangs were up 7-3 in the opening Quarter but trailed the Vikings 13-7 at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 21-13 Morningside College lead and from there Grand View U mustered just a Field Goal as the Mustangs notched a 21-16 victory.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS against the visiting LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS. After trailing 10-0 in the 1st Quarter the Knights pulled to within 17-14 by the midpoint. The Blue Raiders went on top 24-21 in the 3rd Quarter but Marian U came back in the 4th to win it 34-24.
NCAA DIVISION TWO
FIRST QUARTERFINAL – The UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS have once again been the big story of the D2 playoffs. They traveled to face the LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS and led their hosts 9-7 in the 1st Quarter and 26-21 at Halftime. That became a 33-24 advantage to end the 3rd Quarter and West Florida held on from there for a 43-38 Upset.
SECOND QUARTERFINAL – THE ROCK of SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY welcomed the NOTRE DAME COLLEGE FALCONS (School Motto: “No, not THAT Notre Dame”). This was a hardcore shootout with the Rock leading the Falcons 49-31 at the Half before going on to win out by a final score of 65-59.
THIRD QUARTERFINAL – In this game the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS took the field against the visiting TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS. The Mavericks were chasing the Lions 14-7 in the opening Quarter but went out in front 21-14 by the midpoint. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 28-14 Minnesota State advantage and the 4th in a 42-21 Mavericks win.
FOURTH QUARTERFINAL – The FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS and their guests the NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS fought it out for the final berth in next week’s semifinals. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Bulldogs led 3-0 at Halftime. In the 3rd Ferris State went up 10-3 before winning it 25-3.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
FIRST QUARTERFINAL – The SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES visited the WHEATON COLLEGE THUNDER and led them 14-0 in the 1st Quarter. That became a 21-7 advantage by the Half but the Thunder cut that to a 21-14 edge to end the 3rd Quarter. In an action-packed 4th Saint John’s U had to hold on by their fingertips for a 34-33 victory.
SECOND QUARTERFINAL – The MUHLENBERG COLLEGE MULES took it on the road against the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS. The Mules kept the Sea Gulls off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter, leading them 17-0 at the break and 24-0 in the 3rd Quarter. A garbage time TD left the final score 24-8 in favor of Muhlenberg College.
THIRD QUARTERFINAL – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS paid a call on the defending champions – the UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS. The Warhawks put the Crusaders on Upset Alert at the Half with a 10-7 edge before going on to a 26-7 triumph.
FOURTH QUARTERFINAL – And the NORTH CENTRAL (IL) CARDINALS clashed with the visiting DELAWARE VALLEY UNIVERSITY AGGIES. The Cardinals were the only favorite in Division Three to win today and they did it in style, dominating on both sides of the ball to win the game 31-14.
NCAA DIVISION TWO BOWL GAMES
HERITAGE BOWL – The EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS battled the SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS in this Bowl. The Greyhounds seized a quick 13-0 lead in the 1st Quarter before the Muleriders cut that to 13-10 by Halftime. ENMU extended their lead to 20-10 to end the 3rd Quarter then held on in the 4th for a 20-13 victory.
MINERAL WATER BOWL – The 54th Annual Mineral Water Bowl pitted the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS against the WINONA STATE WARRIORS. The Lopers were up 22-9 in the 1st Quarter and 36-19 at the Half. From there each team added another 14 points as UNK defeated Winona State 50-33.
LIVE UNITED BOWL – The MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS took on the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES in this game. The Griffons led the Reddies 7-0 in the opening Quarter and 14-7 by the break. In the 3rd Quarter Missouri Western State went on top 28-14 before finishing with a 35-14 rout of Henderson State.
AMERICA’S CROSSROADS BOWL – In the inaugural edition of this Bowl the TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS squared off against the OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. A 3-0 1st Quarter edge for the Bulldogs turned into a 13-7 advantage for them come Halftime. Truman State shut out the Panthers in the 2nd Half while adding 8 points of their own in the 3rd Quarter for a 21-7 victory.
NJCAA BOWL GAMES
SALT CITY BOWL – The storied HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS clashed with the MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS here. The 1st Quarter ended in a tight 14-10 lead for the Blue Dragons. By the Half Hutchinson College had parlayed that into a 31-10 advantage before the Mustangs pulled to within 31-17 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th the Blue Dragons outscored Monroe College 14-6 to win the game 45-23.
RED GRANGE BOWL – The COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS found themselves facing the ITASCA COLLEGE VIKINGS. After a scoreless opening Quarter the Chaparrals took a 7-0 edge into the locker room. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter and in the 4th the College of DuPage went on to a 14-0 triumph.
