COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF RESULTS FROM NOVEMBER 30th

NAIA – ROUND TWO

BLUE SATURDAY – The LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS took it on the road against the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES. The Blue Raiders went up 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and made that a 21-10 lead by Halftime. The Coyotes pulled to within 28-24 to end the 3rd Quarter before Lindsey Wilson College won it 35-24 in the 4th.

GRAND VICTORY – The GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS welcomed the COLLEGE OF IDAHO YOTES in this 2nd Round game. A 3-0 1st Quarter edge for the Yotes became a 14-3 Vikings lead at the Half. The defenses dominated the 2nd Half with the College of Idaho’s 3rd Quarter Field Goal the only points scored. Grand View University notched a 14-6 victory.

SHUTOUT – The MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS played host to the UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS. The Knights achieved defensive perfection, leading the Patriots 6-0 in the 1st Quarter and 16-0 at the break on their way to a 30-0 shutout of their opponents.

DEFENDING CHAMPS ADVANCE – The NAIA’s defending National Champions – the MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS – faced the traveling SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. The Mustangs seized a quick 14-0 advantage in the opening Quarter and never looked back from there. In the end Morningside College won the game FIFTY-ONE to NOTHING.

NCAA DIVISION TWO – ROUND TWO

DEFENDING CHAMPS FALL – The UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS visited the defending National Champions, the Overall One Seeded VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS. The Argonauts trailed 7-3 in the 1st Quarter but went up 17-7 by the Half. That became a 31-14 lead in the 3rd Quarter before a furious 4th Quarter rally by the Blazers fell short. West Florida triumphed 38-35.

FALCONS ADVANCE – The NOTRE DAME COLLEGE FALCONS traveled to face the KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Golden Bears led 14-7 at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Kutztown U on top 17-10 but in the 4th the Falcons came from behind to win it 20-17.

ROAD ROAR – The TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS found themselves on the road against the COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS. A 7-3 1st Quarter edge for the Lions was unchanged at the midpoint. Texas A&M at Commerce made that 20-3 in the 3rd Quarter before finishing off the Orediggers 23-3.

SLIPPERY WHEN WET – THE ROCK of SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY welcomed the SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY RAMS. The Rock was on top 23-9 by the break but the Rams pulled to within 30-23 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the action-packed 4th Slippery Rock U exploded for a 51-30 victory.

FERRIS STATE’S DAY OFF – Despite their bye in the 1st Round the FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS showed no signs of rust in their game against the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES. The Mules led 7-6 in the 1st Quarter before the Bulldogs took a 16-7 Halftime advantage. From there Ferris State outscored UCM 21-3 to take it 37-10.

MANKATO MANSLAUGHTER – The MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS hosted the COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES and dominated throughout. A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Mavericks became 21-7 by the Half and ultimately a 35-7 clobbering of the Thunderwolves.

BEAR MARKET – The LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS battled the visiting CARSON-NEWMAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The Bears won the distinction of this week’s best victory over a team with the overused names Eagles, Tigers, Bulldogs or Wildcats. Lenoir-Rhyne U hammered the Eagles 49-21.

OBLITERATION – The NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS faced their guests the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY LIONS and proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate them. A 14-0 Bearcats lead in the opening Quarter turned into 35-0 at Halftime and in the end a SIXTY-THREE to SEVEN slaughter. 

NCAA DIVISION THREE – ROUND TWO

DOWN FOR THE MOUNT – The NORTH CENTRAL (IL) CARDINALS took it on the road against the UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS. The Purple Raiders were on top 14-7 in the 1st Quarter and 38-28 come Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Cardinals went in front 49-45 then consummated the Upset 59-52.

VICTORIOUS VALLEY – In another surprise the DELAWARE VALLEY UNIVERSITY AGGIES traveled to play the WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES. The Aggies put the Wolverines on Upset Alert by the Half with a 17-3 advantage. From there Delaware Valley outscored Wesley College 28-7 for a 45-10 beatdown.

JOHNNIES FOR THE WEEKEND – The SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES visited the CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. The Panthers led 3-0 in the 1st Quarter, but then the Johnnies decided enough was enough. Saint John’s University was up 21-6 at the midpoint and 41-13 in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 55-26. 

WHITEWATER IS BACK – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS faced the visiting WARTBURG UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS in this 2nd Round clash. The Warhawks never really let the Knights in the game, leading them 17-0 in the 1st Quarter, 31-7 at the break and 41-21 in the 3rd on their way to a 41-28 triumph.

ANTI-UNION – The SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS welcomed the UNION (NY) COLLEGE DUTCHMEN. A 21-21 tie in the opening Quarter became a 42-28 Sea Gulls lead by Halftime. Salisbury University outscored the Dutchmen 20-13 in the 2nd Half, winning the game 62-41.

DEFENDING CHAMPS ADVANCE – The defending National Champions – the UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS – played host to the HUNTINGDON COLLEGE HAWKS. The Crusaders utterly dominated on both sides of the ball, parlaying a 21-0 Halftime lead into a 42-6 thrashing of the Hawks.

DON’T THAT BEAT THE DUTCH – The WHEATON (IL) COLLEGE THUNDER took the field against the visiting CENTRAL COLLEGE DUTCH. The Thunder roared out to a quick 35-0 1st Quarter advantage and never looked back. Wheaton College routed the Dutch 49-13.

SHUTOUT AT SCOTTY WOOD STADIUM – The MUHLENBERG COLLEGE MULES welcomed the COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT GOLDEN EAGLES. The Mules stubbornly achieved defensive perfection, leading the Golden Eagles 14-0, 28-0 and 35-0 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. In the 4th Muhlenberg won out 42-0.
