It’s that time of year again! Just a note in the spirit of the holiday season to mention my favorite Thanksgiving Eve movie.
Every Wednesday before Thanksgiving I make a point out of watching the musical Oliver!
I know the musical sentimentalizes several characters that Dickens portrayed in a sinister way in the book (especially Fagan and The Artful Dodger) but the finished product has always seemed very holidayish to me.
Since Christmas has plenty of films that go with it I decided to make Oliver! the official Thanksgiving Eve flick in my eccentric little world.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
I watched Oliver many years ago and remember a sweet and lovely song – the boys and Nancy dancing and singing, “I’d do anything for you.”
Same to you! And I like that song, too!
What a great idea! I’m going to add Oliver! to my family’s own Thanksgiving Wednesday customs!
Thank you! I am glad to hear it!
You have wonderful taste in musicals!
Thank you very much.
I love this movie!
So do I.
The ending of this is too sad.
I know what you mean.
My brother played the Artful Dodger in our High School’s production of this musical.
That is good to hear.
