The Pioneers needed Overtime to do it, but they brought down the Falcons 23-20 in the extra session.
NUMBER NINE NOOGIED – Over in the NAIA the CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES welcomed the country’s 9th ranked EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. The Eagles proceeded to make the Crusaders their prison brides, thrashing them by a final score of 42-7.
WAS THE OVER-UNDER ONE HUNDRED-FORTY POINTS? – Defense was apparently optional in yesterday’s D3 game between the FDU-FLORHAM DEVILS and the visiting ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY GOLDEN WOLVES. The Devils won this mega-shootout by a tally of EIGHTY-FOUR to FIFTY-SIX!
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – At the other end of the scoring spectrum, the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM found themselves on the road against the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS. This defensive epic ended in a 9-7 win for the Firestorm.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The (18) BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS toppled their guests, the (12) BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS in a 30-10 smackdown ### And the CARROLL (MT) COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS laid low the visiting (17) MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS by a final score of 30-19.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES paid a visit to the MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs). A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Bulldogs became a 14-7 advantage by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 20-20 tie and the 4th in a 26-26 deadlock. In Overtime the Swedes won out 33-32 off a failed 2-point conversion attempt by McPherson.
HAPPY SENIOR DAYS – The SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES won their Senior Day game against the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS 17-7 ### Meanwhile the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS eviscerated the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES to the tune of 48-3 ### And the MIDLAND WARRIORS hammered the DOANE TIGERS 31-7.
UNHAPPY SENIOR DAYS – On the other hand the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS ruined Senior Day for their hosts the OTTAWA (KS) BRAVES, beating them 20-13 ### And the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) downed the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS 28-12.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The DAKOTA STATE TROJANS took it on the road against the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (should be the Angels) and eked out a 31-29 victory ### And the SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS won a 33-28 thriller at the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS.
NUMBER ONE ROLLS – The (1) CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS paid a visit to the LAWRENCE TECH BLUE DEVILS on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals thoroughly outclassed the Blue Devils on both sides of the ball, utterly annihilating them to the tune of 56-7.
A ROYAL THRASHING – The (4) WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS welcomed the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES. This was a tale of two Halves. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Gyrenes led 14-13 at the break. From there the Royals went up 27-20 in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 41-27.
SOUR SENIOR DAY – The (6) KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS rained on Senior Day for the UNION (KY) COLLEGE BULLDOGS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 21-14 Knights lead by Halftime. That became a 28-21 edge in the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 34-28 victory for KCU.
PHOENIX RISING – The CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX traveled to take on the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS. By the midpoint of the game the Phoenix were on top of the Tigers 14-7. In the 2nd Half Cumberland U outscored Campbellsville U 14-6 for a 28-13 triumph.
ROARING TWENTIES – The GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS toasted the visiting IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) in a 21-0 shutout ### And the UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES won 27-17 over the WESTMINSTER (MO) BLUE JAYS.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS used Overtime to bring down the (18) ANGELO STATE RAMS 20-17 ### Meanwhile the TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS knocked off the (23) UT-PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS in a 44-13 pounding ### And the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS won 49-21 at the (25) MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS.
BATTLE ROYAL – The ALDERSON-BROADDUS UNIVERSITY BATTLERS played host to the WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS on Saturday. The Battlers parlayed a 7-3 Halftime edge over the Cavaliers into a 17-9 3rd Quarter advantage and ultimately a 24-17 victory.
A DOUBLE SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The (14) NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS won 36-33 in Double Overtime against the home-standing (24) FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS ### And the FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS defeated their hosts the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS 17-14 in 2 OT’s.
ALL-NAME GAME – The NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS were on the road against the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM. The Crimson Storm led 21-14 in the opening Quarter but by Halftime the Rangers were on top 35-21. Neither team scored the entire 2nd Half so 35-21 was the final as well.
ONE-POINT WONDERS – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN CHARGERS won a 34-33 game for the ages at the ASSUMPTION COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS ### The MOREHOUSE COLLEGE MAROON TIGERS survived a 40-39 visit from the CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY PANTHERS ### And the AUGUSTANA (SD) VIKINGS edged the home-standing WINONA STATE WARRIORS 26-25.

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The CENTRAL COLLEGE DUTCH welcomed the (11) WARTBURG COLLEGE KNIGHTS and downed them 57-56 in Overtime ### And the RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS massacred the visiting (17) ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS by a final tally of 38-12.
“FREEEEEDOOOMMMM” – The CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS played host to the WESTMINSTER (PA) TITANS yesterday. The Tartans’ 14-0 1st Quarter edge was cut to 14-7 by Halftime. The Titans pulled to within 17-14 to end the 3rd Quarter before Carnegie Mellon won the game 20-14.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The (23) LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS won a 38-31 Overtime affair at the WHITWORTH UNIVERSITY PIRATES ### Meanwhile the HUSSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES defeated the visiting SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS 29-26 in the extra session ### And the MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY BIG BLUE won 35-28 in OT at the WASHINGTON (St Louis) BEARS.
AND THE ONE IN THE REAR … WAS A METHODIST – The METHODIST UNIVERSITY MONARCHS took the field against the visiting LAGRANGE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. The Monarchs were chasing the Panthers 21-14 in the 1st Quarter but by the Half were on top 34-28. The defenses dominated the 2nd Half as Methodist U won 37-33.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS notched a 27-23 road win over the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS ### The OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS beat the visiting BALDWIN-WALLACE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 35-28 ### And the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS defeated their hosts the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS 20-14.
ROAD BLOWOUTS – The ASA (NY) COLLEGE AVENGERS visited the WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES and doubled up on them 54-27 ### Meanwhile the MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS dismembered the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS 63-0 ### And the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES keelhauled the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS 50-3.
A TALE OF TWO HALVES – The FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS took on the home-standing DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS. By Halftime the Greyhounds were on top 21-0. From there the Conquistadors mounted a furious rally, falling just short as Fort Scott emerged with a 38-36 victory.
THE REIVERS: WASN’T THAT A TIME – The IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS found themselves on the road against the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES. The Scotties led 3-0 in the 1st Quarter and 9-7 at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with Highland College on top 15-7 but the Reivers exploded for 20 points in the 4th to win the game 27-22.
HAPPY HOMESTANDS – The COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS defeated their guests the LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES by a score of 21-12 ### And the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES won out over the visiting GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS in a 34-27 thriller.
NEEDING TO VENT – The storied HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS were looking for a team on which to take out their anger over this season’s few missteps. They traveled to face the IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS and proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate them FIFTY-SIX to NOTHING.
