NUMBER TEN TRIUMPHANT – In the sole NAIA game yesterday the 10th ranked REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Rottweilers) hosted the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS. The Warriors, coming off last year’s 7-win season, gave the Eagles almost more than they could handle in the 1st Half, holding Reinhardt to a mere 3-0 lead by the break. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Eagles up 9-0 before RU went on to win the game 16-6.
DOWN GOES NUMBER THREE – In the NJCAA the 6th ranked SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS visited the number 3 team in the nation – the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. The Broncbusters led 3-0 in the 1st Quarter and 13-3 at Halftime, but the Badgers had a 24 point 3rd Quarter enroute to a 30-27 comeback victory.
NUMBER SIXTEEN FALLS – The FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS welcomed the 16th ranked HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES yesterday. These two Jayhawk Conference rivals served up one of the best games of the day in a tightly fought smash-mouth affair. In the end the Greyhounds knocked off the Scotties by a final tally of 20-16.
AVENGERS ON THE ROAD – The ASA (NY) COLLEGE AVENGERS took it on the road against the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS. The Avengers were chasing the Chaparrals 9-6 at the end of the 1st Quarter but from there ASA College shut out their opponents while adding 23 points of their own. The Avengers won it 29-9.
NUMBER SIX ROLLS – The 6th ranked KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS took the field against the visiting TYLER COLLEGE APACHES. The Rangers led all the way and converted a 14-0 Halftime advantage into a 35-10 victory when all the dust had settled.
BLOWOUTS – The ASA COLLEGE (FL) SILVER STORM eviscerated the visiting ADVANCE PREP ACADEMY PANTHERS by a final score of 34-2 ### The MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE crushed the ROCHESTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS 61-31 ### And the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES mauled the IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS 42-10.
SHUTOUTS – The (11) BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS registered a 14-0 blanking of their guests, the TEXAS A&T DRILLERS ### Meanwhile the ITASCA COLLEGE VIKINGS clobbered the MINNESOTA WEST BLUE JAYS to the tune of 26-0 ### And the CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS (should be the Brainstorms) handed a 12-0 loss to their hosts, the DAKOTA COLLEGE AT BOTTINEAU LUMBERJACKS.
YEAR OF THE THUNDER? – Fans of the FOND DU LAC TRIBAL COLLEGE THUNDER got treated to a rare opening day victory as their team welcomed the MINNESOTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPARTANS. The Thunder completely dominated the Spartans on both sides of the ball for an impressive 36-3 triumph.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The NORTHLAND COLLEGE PIONEERS traveled to face the VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN yesterday. In the resulting shootout the Pioneers wound up smacking down their hosts the Ironmen by a final result of 42-21.
TWO AND O – The ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES, through an odd bit of scheduling this season, played their second game of 2019 on Saturday, this one against the CMP ACADEMY DRILLERS. The Buffaloes had it all their own way, improving to 2-0 with a 47-12 rout of the Drillers.
ROAD STAMPEDE – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) visited Glendale, AZ to take on the MARICOPA MUSTANGS for their season opener. This very lopsided game ended in a FORTY-SEVEN to THREE triumph for the Broncos.
