POLO: U.S. OPEN, ROUND TWO, DAY THREE

Cessna PoloROUND TWO, DAY THREE: FIRST MATCH (OF THREE) – CESSNA VS SD FARMS. Starting the day’s action was this Match pitting Cessna – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Citations – against SD Farms – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Magnates.

International Polo Club overheadThe two teams spent the First Chukker feeling each other out, as the tentative offenses were limited to just 1 Goal apiece. In the Second Chukker the Magnates swatted in a pair of Goals to the 1 notched by their opponents to grab a 3-2 edge.

The Third Chukker saw the Citations and SD Farms exchange 2 Goals each for a 5-4 Magnates lead at Halftime.  

Cessna made their move in the Fourth Chukker, shutting out their opponents while adding a Goal to their tally, bringing about a 5-5 deadlock.

The Fifth Chukker was all about offense as the ball practically flew between the Uprights like shrapnel. The Citations outscored SD Farms 3-2 to take an 8 Goals to 7 advantage. In the Sixth Chukker the teams notched 1 Goal apiece as Cessna won the Match 9-8.

Pipe Marquez led the victors with 4 Goals.   

EquuleusROUND TWO, DAY THREE: SECOND MATCH – EQUULEUS VS LA INDIANA. Equulus – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Constellations – took on La Indiana – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Indians.

A 1-1 tie to end the opening Chukker became a 3 Goals to 2 lead for the Indians in the Second Chukker.

La Indiana once again outscored the Constellations 2 to 1 in the Third Chukker, taking a 5-3 advantage into Halftime.

Both offenses were rolling in the Fourth Chukker as the Indians thwacked in 3 Goals to the 2 scored by Equuleus. That 8-5 La Indiana lead was cut to 9-8 when the Constellations dominated Chukker number Five, outperforming their opponents 3 Goals to 1.

The Sixth Chukker saw Equuleus force Overtime with a 10-10 tie. In the Seventh Chukker the Golden Goal was scored by the Constellations for an 11-10 triumph.

Mariano Gonzalez led the scoring for Equuleus with 6 Goals.

Las Monjitas PoloROUND TWO, DAY THREE: THIRD MATCH – LAS MONJITAS VS OLD HICKORY BOURBON. Closing out the day was the Match between Las Monjitas – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Black Habits – and Old Hickory Bourbon – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Distillers.

The Black Habits dominated on both sides of the ball in the First Chukker, shutting out the Distillers while knocking in a pair of Goals for a 2-0 lead. In a wild turnabout Old Hickory Bourbon managed a 3-0 shutout of their own in the Second Chukker, going on top 3-2.

Las Monjitas made it an even wilder ride in the Third Chukker, scoring no less than FIVE Goals in an offensive frenzy while limiting the Distillers to just 1. At Halftime the Black Habits led the Match 7-4.

In the Fourth Chukker the Black Habits outscored their opponents 2-1 for a 9 Goals to 5 lead. The Fifth Chukker saw Old Hickory Bourbon explode for 4 Goals while Las Monjitas mustered just 1, making it a tight 10-9 score.

The Black Habits swatted 2 Goals between the Uprights in the Sixth Chukker to the 1 notched by the Distillers, winning it 12-10.

Hilario Ulloa’s 6 Goals led Las Monjitas.
