DAY FIVE, FIRST MATCH: LAS MONJITAS VS DAILY RACING FORM. This Match pitted Las Monjitas – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Black Habits – against the Defending U.S. Open Champions, Daily Racing Form – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Stat-Hounds.
In the First Chukker the Stat-Hounds showed the proverbial Heart of a Champion, shutting out the Black Habits while notching a Goal for themselves. The Second Chukker saw Las Monjitas outperform their opponents 2 Goals to 1, tying things up at 2-2.
The Black Habits repeated that pattern in the Third Chukker, putting 2 more Goals between the Uprights to the 1 mustered by the Daily Racing Form. Going into Halftime Las Monjitas held a 4-3 edge.
The Fourth Chukker was a defensive epic, with only 1 Goal being knocked in. That Goal put the Black Habits on top by a tally of 5-3. The Stat-Hounds owned the Fifth Chukker, shutting out the opposition while thwacking in a pair of Goals to knot things up 5-5.
In the Sixth Chukker the ball flew between the Uprights with giddy abandon. Each team scored 3 Goals, thus bringing Regulation to a close with an 8-8 deadlock and creating a Golden Goal situation. The Seventh Chukker found Las Monjitas emerging with a 9-8 Overtime victory.

DAY FIVE, SECOND MATCH: ASPEN VS CESSNA. Up next came this Match between Aspen – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Eighty-Fivers – and Cessna – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Citations.
The Citations tripled up on the Eighty-Fivers in the opening Chukker, seizing a 3 Goals to 1 advantage. Aspen cut the Cessna lead to just 4-3 in the Second Chukker, scoring 2 Goals to the 1 managed by the Citations.
The Third Chukker saw the Eighty-Fivers come roaring from behind, putting FIVE unanswered Goals between the Uprights while shutting out Cessna for an 8-4 Halftime lead.
In the Fourth Chukker the Citations nibbled into their deficit, outscoring Aspen 2 to 1 for a new tally of 9 Goals to 6. The two teams went blow for blow and score for score in the Fifth Chukker which ended with the Eighty-Fivers on top 11-8.
Aspen dominated on both sides of the ball in the Sixth Chukker, shutting out Cessna while thwacking in 3 Goals themselves and winning it 14-8.
Lucas James led the victors with 8 Goals.
