POLO: DAY TWO RESULTS AT THE U.S. OPEN

Tonkawa FarmsDAY TWO, FIRST MATCH: TONKAWA FARMS VS POSTAGE STAMP FARM. Tonkawa Farms – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Cavalry – took on Postage Stamp Farm – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Carolinians.

International Polo Club overheadThe Cavalry doubled-up on the Carolinians 2 Goals to 1 in the First Chukker, then manhandled them for 4 unanswered Goals in the Second Chukker to grab a 5-1 lead.

The Third Chukker saw the teams exchange a Goal apiece as Tonkawa Farms headed into Halftime with a comfortable 6-2 advantage.

In the 4th Chukker the Cavalry and Postage Stamp Farm went blow for blow and score for score, knocking the ball between the Uprights twice each. Tonkawa Farms was now on top of the Carolinians 8-4.

Postage Stamp Farm thwacked in 2 Goals to the 1 mustered by the Cavalry in the 5th Chukker, cutting the Tonkawa lead to 9-6. The Sixth and final Chukker was a replay of the 5th’s scoring as the Cavalry won the Match 10-8.

Sapo Caset led Tonkawa Farms with SEVEN of their 10 Goals.

Santa Clara Polo ClubDAY TWO, SECOND MATCH: SANTA CLARA VS SD FARMS. In this Match, Santa Clara – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Saints – faced SD Farms – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Magnates. 

In the First Chukker the Magnates seemed in it for the win as they went on top of the Saints 2-1. The Second Chukker ended that impression as Santa Clara shut out their opponents while whacking in 4 Goals of their own.

Things got worse for SD Farms in the Third Chukker. Once again the Saints kept the Magnates off the scoreboard while putting 2 more Goals between the Uprights to seize a 7-2 Halftime lead.

The Fourth Chukker found SD Farms STILL unable to penetrate the Uprights as Santa Clara went up 9-2. The Magnates managed 2 Goals in the Fifth Chukker, but so did their opponents, making the score 11-4 in favor of the Saints.

In the Sixth Chukker the two teams once again exchanged 2 Goals apiece, as Santa Clara won the Match by a final tally of 13-6.

Cubi Toccalino led the scoring for the victors with 6 Goals.
