COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS FROM FEBRUARY 16th

NAIA DIVISION TWO

jamestown college jimmiesKNOCKING OFF NUMBER TWO – Yesterday the 15th ranked UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES played host to the number 2 team in the nation – the MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Jimmies put the Mustangs on Upset Alert with a 45-37 Halftime lead and then carried through with an 88-75 triumph. Kevin Oberweiser’s 25 points led the way for the University of Jamestown. 

hustlin-owls1NUMBER THREE TAKES A TUMBLE AS WELL – In this game the number 10 OREGON TECH HUSTLIN’ OWLS took the court against the visiting 3rd ranked COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES. At the break the Hustlin’ Owls were chasing the Coyotes 35-30 but in the 2nd Half Oregon Tech turned it on for a 75-72 comeback win. Mitchell Fink tossed in 23 points to lead the victors.

Marian University KnightsOTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The (11) MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS toppled the (5) INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS 94-84    ###    Meanwhile the SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS downed the (6) MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS in an 86-74 catfight    ###    And the JOHNSON & WALES (FL) TIGERS won a 74-70 Instant Classic over the (16) WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS. 

Voorhees College TigersCENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The VOORHEES COLLEGE TIGERS annihilated the SOUTH CAROLINA FAITH A&M BULLS by a count of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-FIVE to 82   ###    The (13) INDIANA EAST UNIVERSITY RED WOLVES defeated the CARLOW UNIVERSITY CELTICS 121-86    ###    The MADONNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS put up 100 points to the 86 scored by their hosts the LOURDES UNIVERSITY GRAY WOLVES    ###    And the CINCINNATI CHRSITIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES beat the INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS 111-108.

Northwestern (IA) Red Raiders logoWORKIN’ OVERTIME – The NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS won a 105-99 Overtime clash on the road against the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS    ###   Meanwhile the SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS beat the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES 90-81 in OT    ###    And the (1) OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES ruined Senior Day for the (6) SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS with their 97-95 Double Overtime triumph.

NAIA DIVISION ONE

William Jessup University WarriorsNUMBER SIX FALLS AT HOME – The 17th ranked WILLIAM JESSUP UNIVERSITY WARRIORS took it on the road against the number 6 team in the land – the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS. The Lions were on top 34-31 at Halftime but the Warriors came roaring back after the break to knot things up at 72-72. In Overtime William Jessup U outscored Vanguard 17-13 for an 89-85 Upset. Twenty-eight points from Keith Phillips led the Warriors.

usao_drovers_150px31OTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – Elsewhere the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS won a 72-71 game for the ages at the (23) JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES (Should be the Abolitionists)    ###    And the LIFE PACIFIC COLLEGE WARRIORS defeated the (24) ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM 94-85 in their own house.

William Woods OwlsA DOUBLE SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS needed not just one but TWO Overtime sessions to defeat the CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS by a score of 83-78    ###    Meanwhile the (12) WILEY COLLEGE WILDCATS celebrated Senior Night with a 109-106 Double Overtime victory over the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS.

Hope International University RoyalsHOPE AND SPIRIT – In this game the HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS traveled to take on the OTTAWA (AZ) UNIVERSITY SPIRIT. The Royals seized control early and led the Spirit 38-26 by the midpoint. After the break Hope International University got more and more separation, ultimately winning it 67-49. Jonathan Guzman scored 19 points to lead the Royals. 

William Carey University BIGWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (15) WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS welcomed the (19) BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS and edged them 81-78 in an undeniable Instant Classic    ###    And the (9) WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (Should be the Flying W’s) outfought the visiting (18) OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS to the tune of 86-74.
