NUMBER SEVEN TAKES A FALL – The 18th ranked WILLIAM JESSUP UNIVERSITY WARRIORS hosted the number 7 team in the nation – THE MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Warriors let a 44-31 Halftime lead slip away to a 69-69 tie to end Regulation. The 1st Overtime ended in a 78-78 deadlock but in the 2nd William Jessup University emerged with a 90-84 triumph. Tyras Rattler Jr’s 21 points led the victors.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – There was only one other Upset among the ranked teams yesterday. The OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS took the court against their guests – the number 21 JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES (should be the Abolitionists). The Stars were chasing the Golden Eagles 42-31 at the Half but came roaring back after the break. Oklahoma City University won an 82-81 Instant Classic led by 20 points from Trae Bryant.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The MENLO COLLEGE OAKS defeated the visiting WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS (should be the Guardians) 97-91 in the extra session ### Meanwhile the (6) TOUGALOO COLLEGE BULLDOGS won a 99-98 OT thriller at the EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS ### And the (16) UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS downed their hosts the LIFE UNIVERSITY RUNNING EAGLES 85-79.
SPECIAL EVENTS – The (14) WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN survived an 84-81 visit from the MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS on Superhero Day ### And the (11) PERU STATE BOBCATS marked the Alumni Chili Feed by clobbering their guests the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS by a blowout score of 92-58.
CENTURY CLUB – There was only one NAIA Division One team scoring 100 or more points in Regulation yesterday. The CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS visited the SAINT LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY EUTECTICS (love that name). At Halftime the Mustangs led the Eutectics 53-46, then went on to win this shootout 105-95. Tyrone Alston tossed in 21 points to lead CBC.
NAIA DIVISION TWO
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER ONE – The GOSHEN COLLEGE MAPLE LEAFS welcomed the number one team in the country – the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. The Maple Leafs put the Wildcats on Upset Alert with a 37-33 Halftime advantage then sealed the deal with a 66-65 victory. Demarcus Stuckey led Goshen College with THIRTY-SIX points.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES won an 86-83 game for the ages against the visiting (13) SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE ### Meanwhile the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES toppled the (20) FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS 72-67 ### And the GOVERNORS STATE JAGUARS won a 70-64 road game against the (25) ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation: The HASKELL INDIAN NATIONS UNIVERSITY INDIANS put up 107 points to the 80 scored by the OGLALA LAKOTA COLLEGE BRAVEHEARTS ### The (23) INDIANA UNIVERSITY NORTHWEST RED HAWKS defeated the home-standing KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS in a 125-100 shootout ### Meanwhile the CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES bounced the MIDWAY UNIVERSITY EAGLES 104-81 ### And the INDIANA UNIVERSITY AT KOKOMO COUGARS crushed the CARLOW UNIVERSITY CELTICS 105-74.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS took the court against the visiting REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Rottweilers). The Rambling Rams were on top 32-29 at the break but in the 2nd Half Reinhardt U forced Overtime with a 77-77 tie. In the extra session Bluefield College outscored the Eagles 20-10 for a 97-87 win. Ty’quon Reid led the Rambling Rams with 22 points and 9 rebounds.
SPOILED EVENTS – The (18) UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES rained on Alumni Day for the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS, defeating them 92-70 ### Meanwhile the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS’ 65-59 win spoiled Senior Night for the VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS ### And the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES dampened Church Spirit Night for the TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS with their 72-63 victory.
