FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 3 seeds – the LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES – faced the 2nd seeded SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS for the right to advance to the Championship Game.
By Halftime the Hurricanes were threatening a mild upset with a 38-37 edge over the Bulldogs. In the 2nd Half Louisburg College made good on that threat, putting more and more distance between themselves and South Suburban College on their way to an 86-73 victory. Jordan Oakley led the Hurricanes with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – The other two remaining teams were the top seeded SOUTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE SPARTANS and the 5 seeds – the RICHARD BLAND COLLEGE STATESMEN.
Suffocating defense was the theme of the opening Half, which ended with the Spartans on top of the Statesmen by a mere 28-26. After the break Southwestern College was able to inch away from Richard Bland College to win the game by a final tally of 70-62. Twenty-One points and 8 rebounds from Brodric Thomas led the Spartans.
*** NJCAA DIVISION ONE ***
FIRST SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the 4 seeds – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – against the 8th seeded NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE RAIDERS.
The Blue Dragons accumulated a 46-41 advantage over the Raiders by the midpoint of the game. In the 2nd Half Hutchinson College fought their way clear to an 88-79 triumph. J.J. Rhymes put up 20 points to lead the Blue Dragons while his teammate Shakur Juiston notched a Double Double of 18 points and 15 rebounds.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – In a 6 over 2 Upset the 6th seeded EASTERN FLORIDA STATE TITANS took the court against the 2nd seeded SOUTH PLAINS COLLEGE TEXANS.
The Titans previously polished off the top seeds in the tournament and kept that mojo going against the Texans. Eastern Florida State led South Plains College 33-30 at the Half and ultimately eliminated them by a count of 77-65. Kareem Brewton of the Titans led his team with 26 points.
