COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS STILL GOING STRONG

REGION NINE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this Regional Tourney were the GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS and the LARAMIE COUNTY COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES.

The Pronghorns built up a 47-38 lead by Halftime and from there both teams intensified their offensive efforts. In the end Gillette College won this game for the ages by a Century Club-level score of 101-97. Ted McCree tossed in 25 points to lead the Pronghorns.    

REGION TEN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title tilt pitted the SPARTANBURG METHODIST COLLEGE PIONEERS against the CALDWELL TECH COBRAS.

The 1st Half ended with the Pioneers on top of the Cobras by a count of 38-33. After the break the defenses took over as Caldwell Tech fought hard to come from behind but Spartanburg Methodist College prevailed in a 61-60 nailbiter. The Pioneers were led by Jonathan Sanks with 20 points.
