SOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

USAO Drover newQUARTERFINAL GAME ONE – This was the game of the night in the SAC Tournament and featured the 4 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS – taking on the 5th seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (Should be the Flying W’s).

The Drovers and the Pioneers were knotted up at 41-41 by Halftime, then went on to end Regulation in an 87-87 tie. In the Overtime session the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma went on to win a 100-99 nailbiter. Taran Buie notched 26 points to lead the Drovers. 

oklahoma city university starsQUARTERFINAL GAME TWO – In this hardcourt contest the 6th seeded OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS did battle with the 3 seeds – the SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES.

The Stars trailed the Eagles at the midpoint of the game by a score of 42-32. After the break Oklahoma City University flipped that score on SCU for a 74-74 tie to force Overtime. That extra period saw the Stars emerge with an 87-80 triumph, led by Tyler Alderman and Lou “Not the Globetrotter” Dunbar with 22 points each.

Southwestern Assemblies of God LionsQUARTERFINAL GAME THREE – This was a 2 vs 7 matchup as the 2nd seeded SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS played the 7th seeded JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES (Should be the Abolitionists).

A workmanlike performance by the Lions found them on top of the Abolitionists Golden Eagles 32-26 at the break. After that an even tighter 2nd Half ended in a 76-66 win for SAGU. Josh Williams put up a Double Double of 16 points and 10 rebounds for the victors.

QUARTERFINAL GAME FOUR – The Conference’s top seeded TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS took the court against the 8 seeds – the MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EVANGELS, the Defending National Champions.

Things went the way you would expect in this disappointing year for the Evangels as the Rams led them 50-30 by the Half before crushing them 93-60. Trevon Jeffery’s Double Double of 23 points and 12 rebounds led Texas Wesleyan.  

FRONTIER CONFERENCE

MSUNorthernNewsOPENING ROUND, GAME ONE – This game pitted the 4 seeds – the MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS – against the 5th seeded ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS.

The Lights had compiled a 41-34 advantage over the Battlin’ Bears by Halftime and following the break they kept building on that lead for a 71-54 victory. David Straught’s 12 points and 8 rebounds led Montana State- Northern.  

LCSC Logo - Primary FullOPENING ROUND, GAME TWO – Next the 3rd seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS took the court against the 6 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF GREAT FALLS ARGONAUTS. The Warriors took control quickly and were on top of the Argonauts 42-29 by the break.

In the 2nd Half Lewis- Clark State got more and more separation from the University of Great Falls, ultimately winning the game by a final tally of 83-66. Doug McDaniel tossed in 19 points to lead the Warriors.
