CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The two teams who were still standing for this title tilt in the AII were the top seeded WASHINGTON ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY SHOCK and the 4 seeds – the ROCHESTER COLLEGE WARRIORS. A furious opening Half ended with the Shock clinging by their fingernails to a 34-33 edge.
After the break Washington Adventist University slowly but surely took control of the game, ultimately defeating the Warriors by a final score of 78-63. Tyrus Fleetwood led the Shock with 23 points and 8 rebounds. * THE SHOCK ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE AII TOURNAMENT *
WOLVERINE-HOOSIER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The Cinderella 6 seeds – the AQUINAS COLLEGE SAINTS – did battle with the 2nd seeded DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. The Saints stunned the Davenport faithful by holding a 46-36 advantage at Halftime. From there, however, Aquinas College had to dig in to withstand a furious comeback attempt by the Panthers. In the end the Saints held on for a 79-77 victory. Arsenio Arrington was the top scorer for Aquinas College with 26 points and 7 rebounds.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the top seeded CORNERSTONE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES against the 5 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN AT DEARBORN WOLVERINES. The Golden Eagles were all business and started the game on an 11-2 run which the Wolverines reduced to a mere 30-26 lead at the break. In the 2nd Half Cornerstone University managed a bit more elbow room for a 79-70 triumph. Leading the Golden Eagles was Michael Bradshaw with 20 points, followed closely by Cory Cox with 19.
My cousin played for the shock awhile back.
Good to hear!
