PRESIDENTS BOWL – The two teams competing in this Bowl Game were the WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS and the COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT GOLDEN EAGLES. The Presidents trailed the Golden Eagles 17-7 in the 1st Quarter and 24-13 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Washington & Jefferson College facing a 31-16 deficit. The Presidents exploded for 22 unanswered points in the 4th Quarter for a 38-31 comeback win.
LEGACY BOWL – This game pitted the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS against the CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS. After a 7-7 1st Quarter tie the Sea Gulls seized control in the 2nd Quarter and took a 24-7 lead into the locker room. In the 2nd Half Salisbury University outscored the Tartans 28-13 for a blowout win by a count of 52-20.
CLAYTON CHAPMAN BOWL – The KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS played a game for the ages against the CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS in this Bowl. The opening Quarter ended with the Cougars on top of the Red Dragons 14-7 but extending that lead to 27-14 by Halftime. Cortland State pulled to within 27-21 to end the 3rd Quarter and Kean University had to hold on by their fingernails for a 30-27 victory in the 4th.
ASA S BUSHNELL BOWL – The FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS took the field against the SAINT JOHN FISHER COLLEGE CARDINALS in the 2016 edition of the Bushnell Bowl. The Bobcats grabbed a 7-0 edge in the 1st Quarter and never looked back from there, dominating on both sides of the ball for a healthy 38-14 triumph.
JAMES LYNAH BOWL – In this Bowl Game the WESTMINSTER (PA) COLLEGE TITANS battled the UTICA COLLEGE PIONEERS. The Titans trailed 6-3 to end the 1st Quarter but never let the Pioneers score again. By Halftime Westminster College led 20-6 and coasted in the 2nd Half to win the game by a final tally of 33-6.
NEW ENGLAND BOWL – The very first New England Bowl featured the FRAMINGHAM STATE RAMS playing the SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS. Despite a 23-7 lead for the Rams at the midpoint of the game they let the Seahawks back in contention after the break. In the end the furious Salve Regina rally fell just short as Framingham State held them off for a 37-34 victory.
SCOTTY WHITELAW BOWL – The RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS had a tight opening Quarter against the MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS, who trailed them just 10-6. From there the Engineers opened up their offense to lead the game 24-6 at the Half on their way to a 38-6 smackdown.
CENTENNIAL-MAC BOWL GAME ONE – This Bowl Game pitted a team from the Middle Atlantic Conference – the DELAWARE VALLEY UNIVERSITY AGGIES – against a team from the Centennial Conference – the MUHLENBERG COLLEGE MULES. The Aggies led the Mules 23-13 at Halftime then had to hold on tight to survive by a score of 30-27.
CENTENNIAL-MAC BOWL GAME TWO – This time around the MAC’s ALBRIGHT COLLEGE LIONS took on the CC’s FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS. The Diplomats (Oh, that word!) actually led the Lions 13-7 at the break but a big 3rd Quarter gave Albright a 22-16 lead and ultimately a 28-23 triumph.
The Presidents? There was no getting away from it this year if even football teams are called the Presidents.
