FLORIDA TECH CONQUERS DIVISION ONE – Division Two’s FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS took it on the road against Division ONE’s PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BLUE HOSE. The Panthers sent a message, pushing the Blue Hose around the field on both sides of the ball. Florida Tech handily defeated Presbyterian College by a score of 28-7.
NUMBER SIX TAKES A FALL – The 18th ranked EMPORIA STATE HORNETS visited the number 6 team in the country – the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES. This was a Battle Royal in which 4 Quarters wasn’t enough … One Overtime period wasn’t enough either. In DOUBLE OVERTIME the Hornets emerged with a 37-31 triumph over the Mules.
THE LOSING STREAK IS OVER – The MCDANIEL COLLEGE GREEN TERROR ended their 22 game losing streak yesterday in their contest with the visiting URSINUS COLLEGE BEARS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter an action-packed 2nd Quarter ended with the Green Terror on top 17-14. After the break the Bears made it a 17-17 tie in the 3rd Quarter but in the 4th McDaniel College managed a 30-27 victory. Congratulations to the Green Terror on the end of this losing streak.
HANGING EIGHTY-FOUR – The 7th ranked LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS played host to the CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The Blue Raiders were the veteran team while the Eagles are in their very first year of intercollegiate football. The Blue Raiders decided to thrash the Eagles for having one of the most overused names in college sports, annihilating them EIGHTY-FOUR to NOTHING!
*** NAIA VERSUS NCAA DIVISION THREE ***
WARHAWKS OVER THE MUSTANGS – Balladeer’s Blog continues chronicling the intense gridiron rivalry between the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and the NCAA Division Three. The 2nd ranked Division Three team – the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS – took on the NAIA’s visiting MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS and defeated them 35-21. This week’s tally: D3 – 1 NAIA – 0.
LIONS OVER KANGAROOS – In this game the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS out of the NAIA welcomed the AUSTIN COLLEGE KANGAROOS from Division Three. The spectators at Lumpkins Stadium were treated to an Instant Classic which ended in a 23-17 win for the Lions. This week’s tally: NAIA – 1 D3 – 1. The NAIA has won two weeks, D3 has won one week and this week makes a 2nd tie.

UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS took the field against the visiting number 17 team in the nation – the SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. The Saints won a 30-29 game for the ages! ### And the PERU STATE BOBCATS notched a 21-17 road upset of the 23rd ranked MID-AMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS.
ONE POINT WONDERS – The GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS crashed Family Weekend for the CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES, eking out a 28-27 win over them. ### And the 8th ranked GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS visited the number 11 MISSOURI VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS. This case of Viking on Viking violence ended in a 29-28 Grand View victory.
TRIPLE OVERTIME IN THE SUN CONFERENCE – The SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE were defending their home field against the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS yesterday. The Sun Conference debut for both teams was too exciting to be finished up in Regulation. It took not one, and not two, but THREE OVERTIME PERIODS for a winner to emerge. The Fire won the marathon game 52-44.
HAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES marked their Homecoming celebrations by eviscerating the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS to the tune of 63-13. ### Meanwhile the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS won a much closer 41-33 affair against the DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS ### And the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS spanked the WALDORF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS 36-7.
BATTLE FOR THE BRASS LANTERN – This annual clash between the UNION (KY) COLLEGE BULLDOGS and the visiting UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS was played on Saturday. The coveted Brass Lantern belongs to the Bulldogs following this nailbiter of a game. Union College won it by a tight score of 49-45.
CAN THEY TURN IT AROUND? – Some struggling teams have hope for turning the 2016 season around after victories yesterday. The BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS won a 34-21 contest against their guests the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS. ### And the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY BRAVES authoritatively handled the visiting BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES by a final tally of 46-25.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS traveled to face the EDWARD WATERS (FL) COLLEGE TIGERS and defeated them 23-20 ### Meanwhile the CULVER-STOCKTON COLLEGE WILDCATS won a 60-55 shootout against the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) ### And the ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES snuck past their hosts the ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS 38-35.

BY A GNAT’S EYELASH – The MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE CHOCTAWS were a rare bright spot on what was otherwise a very bad day for the NCCAA. The Choctaws welcomed the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX and played one of the most exciting games of the day. In the end a last-second Field Goal lifted Mississippi College to a 27-26 win.
NAIA OVER THE NCCAA – The MAYVILLE STATE COMETS, who hail from the NAIA, took the field against the NCCAA’s TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS in Ellendale, ND. After 4 bruising Quarters of dominating the Lions the end result was that the Comets sent Trinity Bible College back home reeling from a 35-6 beatdown.
BRAVES ON THE WARPATH – The UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT PEMBROKE UNIVERSITY BRAVES were entertaining the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS on Saturday. This battle was very, very hard-fought but ultimately the Braves pulled away from the Crusaders for a 49-35 victory.
MORE NAIA OVER NCCAA – The BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS squared off against their guests – the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS – and managed a 35-28 edge-of-your-seat win ### And the TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS defeated the visiting OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS by a final count of 34-21.
