MESS WITH FIRE AND YOU GET BURNED – The SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE traveled to face the 19th ranked FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) in a game marking 10 years of the Faulkner football program. The Fire marred the celebration in what turned out to be a textbook example of defensive football. The final score was Southeastern University 10 Faulkner University 6.
AND AN INSTANT CLASSIC CAME DOWN THE PIKE – The UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS played host to the number 17 CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS. The Tigers led 10-7 after 1 Quarter of play but the Bears had grabbed a 14-13 edge by Halftime. After an explosive 3rd Quarter the University of Pikeville was leading 34-27 and from there the Bears went on to win the game 41-34. Pikeville is now 2-0.
SIDS AWARENESS – The 18th ranked GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS welcomed the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX to their game dedicated to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Awareness. The Tigers led 14-0 at the break and kept the Phoenix off the scoreboard in the 3rd Quarter, too. Cumberland mustered 7 points in the 4th while Georgetown College tacked on 14 more for a 28-7 triumph.

GAME OF THE NIGHT – The BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS took it on the road against the MILLSAPS COLLEGE MAJORS. The Blazers trailed the Majors 10-0 in the 1st Quarter and 17-7 at the Half. After the break Belhaven University came from behind to take a 21-17 lead in the 3rd and ultimately won the game 28-25. Blazers QB Hunter McEachern threw for 334 yds and 3 TD’s in the win.
WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 15 JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS hosted the 20th ranked WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS last night. The Blue Jays were comfortably ahead for the entire game, leading the Generals 14-7 in the 1st Quarter, 28-14 at the midpoint and 42-21 in the 3rd Quarter. The final tally was Johns Hopkins University 45 Washington & Lee University 29.
SHUTOUTS – The COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS were guests of the ANNA MARIA COLLEGE AMCATS but proved thoroughly unmanageable, trouncing the Amcats by a final score of THIRTY-FOUR to NOTHING! ### And the BALDWIN WALLACE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS sent the visiting DEFIANCE COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS back home reeling from a FORTY-ONE to NOTHING drubbing.
THUNDER OVER INDIANA – The TRINE UNIVERSITY THUNDER found themselves on the road against the MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. A 7-3 lead for the Thunder in the 1st Quarter was unchanged at Halftime. That became 10-3 in the 3rd Quarter enroute to a 23-9 victory for Trine University. RB Lamar Carswell rushed for 150 yds and 2 TD’s for the Thunder.

ITAWAMBA OUGHTA – The ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS seized a quick 17-0 lead over the visiting MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE BULLDOGS. In the 2nd Quarter the Bulldogs pulled to within 17-10 and made it 17-12 by the end of the 3rd. The 4th Quarter saw the Indians win the game by a final score of 23-12. Itawamba College’s QB Dan Ellington passed for 156 yds and rushed for 199 more with 2 TD’s.
CATFIGHT – This game pitted the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS against their guests the PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS. Defense was the story of the 1st Half, which ended with the Tigers clinging to a slight 3-0 edge. From there each team scored 14 points the rest of the way, with Northeast Miss eking out a 17-14 victory. QB Mason Cunningham threw for 1 TD through the air on 148 yds passing.
MISSISSIPPI MASSACRE – The NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS spotted their hosts the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES a 7-3 1st Quarter lead before hitting the accelerator. A 26-10 Halftime lead for the Rangers ultimately became a 40-17 blowout win. Northwest Mississippi College’s RB Quarderman Sloane notched 100 rushing yds and 2 TD’s.
ALL-NAME GAME – The TYLER COLLEGE APACHES took the field against the TEXAS A&T DRILLERS in a battle of cool-named teams. The Apaches seized a 21-0 lead over the Drillers in the 1st Quarter and never looked back from there. When the game was over Tyler had inflicted a SIXTY-THREE to NOTHING beatdown on Texas A&T. Both Elijah Staley and McLane Carter saw time at Quarterback in the game.
FOOTBALL AND TIGERS AND BEARS OH MY – The SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE BEARS traveled to Clarksdale to face the COAHOMA COLLEGE TIGERS last night. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Bears went up 13-6 by Halftime. After the break Southwest Miss added 11 more points while shutting out the Tigers for a 24-6 triumph. Bears QB Neil McLaurin passed for 152 yds with 1 TD through the air and 1 on the ground.
