CCCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL SEMIFINALS

FIRST SEMIFINAL – The SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS clashed with the FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS in this game. The Gauchos’ weakness of occasional slow starts came back to haunt them again as they trailed the Rams 28-19 at Halftime.

Following the break Saddleback College came back to force Overtime with a 49-49 tie to end Regulation. In the OT session the Gauchos outscored Fresno City College 17-12 for a 66-61 victory. Lyle Hexom led Saddleback to the Championship Game with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

SECOND SEMIFINAL – This contest pitted the CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS against the CHAFFEY COLLEGE PANTHERS for the right to face the Gauchos in the title tilt. The Rams had managed a 39-34 advantage over the Panthers by the break and afterward went on to flex their offensive muscle some more.

When all was said and done in this hardcourt battle City College of San Francisco had gotten double-digit separation from Chaffey College for an 86-71 win. Shon Briggs contributed 21 points and 8 rebounds for the victorious Rams. It will be CCSF versus Saddleback College for the championship.
