FRONTIER CONFERENCE – OPENING ROUND – The top two seeds in this conference get a Bye to the 2nd Round. Yesterday pitted the 6 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF GREAT FALLS ARGONAUTS – against the 3rd seeded MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS. The Argonauts shocked the nation, toppling the Bulldogs in a 67-64 game for the ages! ### And the other game from the Frontier Conference last night presented the 4th seeded ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS taking on the 5th seeded MONTANA STATE- NORTHERN LIGHTS. The Battlin’ Bears advanced with a 78-66 win.
CASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY BEACONS lived up to their top seeding in the tourney, grabbing the conference crown by dispatching the 3rd seeded WARNER PACIFIC COLLEGE KNIGHTS 77-66. Along the way Northwest Christian also eliminated Oregon Tech and Northwest (WA). * THE BEACONS ARE THE CCC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *
GREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This conference tournament was all-chalk all the time, including yesterday’s title clash. The top seeded BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS took on the 2nd seeded NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES and defeated them by a Century Club score of 103-97! * THE CHARGERS ARE THE GPAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *
THE SUN CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams left standing in this league were the 2 seeds – the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS – and the top seeded KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS. The Royals showed the violence inherent in the system (for you Monty Python fans), clobbering the Seahawks to the tune of 80-55. OPENING ROUND – GAME ONE – The 8 seeds – the COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (VT) FIGHTING SAINTS – took the court against the 9th seeded UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT PRESQUE ISLE OWLS. The Fighting Saints actually trailed the Owls 34-23 at Halftime but then came back to win this Instant Classic by a score of 75-71. Antonio Gordon came off the bench for the College of St Joseph’s to toss in TWENTY-NINE points.
OPENING ROUND – GAME TWO – The 7th seeded PENN STATE UNIVERSITY AT FAYETTE ROARING LIONS squared off against the 10 seeds – the CENTRAL MAINE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Roaring Lions methodically went about building a lead, topping the Mustangs 46-40 at the midpoint and ultimately winning the game 93-81. PSU-Fayette’s Luke Williams accounted for THIRTY-THREE points on his own.
