Balladeer’s Blog continues its coverage of the world’s OLDEST team sport.
Mere weeks after winning the Waterbury Cup the storied WHITE BIRCH polo team won the Butler Handicap, clobbering AIRSTREAM by a score of 16-9 in the championship match. The Greenwich Polo Club was the scene of the action.
White Birch rode onto the polo grounds playing like a team possessed on both offense AND defense.
They swatted in 3 goals in the 1st Chukker, an amazing 5 in the 2nd Chukker and 2 more in the 3rd to head into Halftime with an intimidating 10-4 lead over their opponents from Airstream.
From there the outcome was never in doubt and White Birch went on to win the match by a final score of 16 goals to 9. Mariano Aguerre led the victors with 6 goals of his own.

Polo? He is a cute guy, though.
Thanks for commenting!
I like the way you describe polo but I can’t understand it when I watch it.
Yeah, the snobbish announcers don’t always make it clear for newcomers.
Go White Birch!
You said it!
