The NAIA’s February Frenzy of conference tournament games got underway last night and as always the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference started things off.

The HOLY CROSS COLLEGE SAINTS did battle with the visiting TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS and after a hard-fought opening 20 minutes, held a slim 35-32 lead at Halftime. In the 2nd Half the Saints fell behind by a score of 47-44 but runs of 9-0 and 7-0 allowed them to retake the lead and get separation for their 78-65 win. Drew Moore, Karl Columbus and Darrell McIntyre had 27, 18 and 15 points respectively for Holy Cross.
The ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY (IL) EAGLES and the CALUMET COLLEGE CRIMSON WAVE clashed in the other game of the Opening Round. The Eagles demonstrated their superiority to their guests from the start and after 6 minutes in held a 10 point lead which endured as a 39-29 advantage at the break. The Crimson Wave cut into the lead slightly at 42-33 very early in the 2nd Half but after that Robert Morris University led by double-digits the rest of the way, ultimately winning by a final tally of 87-63. The Eagles’ “M Squad” of Marlon Maxey, Myles Morgan and Alexander Marzette tossed in 20, 19 and 11 points for their team.

REGION 320 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The title game for this Region pitted the PRINCE GEORGE’S COLLEGE OWLS against the COLLEGE OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY AT BOYCE SAINT BERNARDS. In what turned out to be an offensive clinic the Owls took the Regional Crown by an unbelievable score of ONE HUNDRED FORTY-THREE to NINETY-ONE!
GEORGIA COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The two teams battling for the GCAA championship were the SOUTHERN CRESCENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE TIGERS and their guests, the WEST GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE GOLDEN KNIGHTS. The Tigers prevailed in this epic hardcourt Armageddon, defeating the Golden Knights by a final tally of 96-90.
CUNY ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN COLLEGE PANTHERS welcomed the BRONX COLLEGE BRONCOS for a hardcourt tussle for conference supremacy. After a hard-fought game that neither team will ever forget the Panthers at last emerged with a 91-83 triumph.
