MAY 3RD’S COLLEGE BASEBALL CONFERENCE AND REGIONAL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Bethany Swedes logoKANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CON-FERENCE – The 3rd seeded BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES were the story of Day Three of the KCAC tournament. First they eliminated the 5th seeded MCPHERSON BULLDOGS in a 9-1 rout. Then they bounced the 4 seeds, the FRIENDS FALCONS, in a much closer 3-1 outcome.   ###   Earlier in the day those same Falcons had fallen to the top seeded TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS by a score of 5-2. The Blue Jays in turn went on to be upset by the 2nd seeded team in the tournament, the STERLING WARRIORS, in a 4-3 Instant Classic.

York (NE) PanthersMIDLANDS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The YORK (NE) PANTHERS came into the tourney in the 2 spot and yesterday they totalled the OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN EAGLES 7-2 to start the day off.   ###   The upstart 4 seeds, the CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS, then stunned the top seeded BELLEVUE BRUINS in a 2-1 game for the ages.   ###   York then went on to eliminate Central Baptist in an 18-3 laugher and take the 2013 MCAC crown. Congratulations to the Panthers as they move on to the national tournament!

USCB Sand SharksTHE SUN CONFERENCE – Yesterday the 6th seeded UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA-BEAUFORT SAND SHARKS remained THE story of the tourney, remaining perfect by downing the 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE in a 13-11 scoring orgy.   ###   The Fire defeated the 4 seeds, the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL WARRIORS in a TWELVE INNING 6-5 epic.   ###   The top seeded EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES eliminated those same warriors in a 3-1 game to close out the day.      

tennessee wesleyan collegeAPPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The top seeded defending champions of NAIA baseball won two games yesterday enroute to another conference title. The TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS crushed the (5) REINHARDT EAGLES 8-1 then followed that up with a 10-1 decimation of the 6th seeded VIRGINIA INTERMONT COBRAS. Congratulations to TWC!

LSU-Alexandria GeneralsASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS – The 2nd seeded LSU-ALEXANDRIA GENERALS absolutely embarrassed the 4 seeds, the FISHER (MA) FALCONS, in an 11-2 elimination game.   ###   That victory earned the Generals the right to advance to face the top seeded CAL STATE-SAN MARCO COUGARS for the AII championship. The Cougars won a 3-2 game for the ages to punch their ticket to the NAIA national tournament.

Northwestern (IA) Red Raiders logoGREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The (1) NORTHWESTERN (IA) RED RAIDERS clobbered the (6) MIDLAND WARRIORS 16-5, but were then eliminated by the (2) DOANE TIGERS in a 10-2 loss of their own.   ###   Midland University bounced back by bouncing the (8) DAKOTA WESLEYAN TIGERS 7-4. It will be Doane vs Midland for the GPAC title.

jamestown college jimmiesFRONTIER CONFERENCE – The top seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS staved off elimination by beating the 4th seeded VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS by a score of 5-3.   ###   The 2 seeds, the JAMESTOWN COLLEGE JIMMIES, then defeated the Comets for the title in a 7-6 Instant Classic. Congratulations to the Jimmies!  

Indiana Tech WarriorsWOLVERINE-HOOSIER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 3rd seeded INDIANA TECH WARRIORS squared off against the top seeds, the MADONNA CRUSADERS, for the WHAC championship. The Crusaders took the first game 3-1, giving Indy Tech their 1st loss of the tournament. With Madonna already with a loss the 2nd game was for the conference crown. Anti-climactically enough, the Warriors eviscerated the Crusaders 10-2 in that 2nd game and punched their own ticket to the national tournament!
