POSTSEASON COLLEGE BASEBALL CONTINUES

In NAIA baseball’s ongoing conference tournaments the Blue Mountain College Toppers (logo at left) are the biggest story so far. They came into the TranSouth Athletic Conference tournament seeded 6th, but on Day 1 of the tourney they upset the number 1 seeds, the Freed Hardeman Lions, then yesterday on Day 2 the Toppers defeated the 4th- seeded Bethel (TN) Wildcats. Today they try to keep their upset mojo going when they take on the 2 seeds, the Union Bulldogs.

Meanwhile a few conference champions have already been crowned. The Lee Flames have won the Southern States Athletic Conference, the LSU- Shreveport Pilots (as in riverboat pilots ) took the Red River Athletic Conference title and the Georgetown (KY) Tigers are the champs of the Mid South Conference.

In CCCAA college baseball the single elimination play-in games were held yesterday. Here are the results –

SCFA – (16) Los Angeles Valley Monarchs over the (17) Bakersfield Renegades  5-2 *** (15) Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros over the (18) College of the Canyons Cougars  6-5 in SIXTEEN INNINGS

NCFA – (16) Sacramento City College Panthers mangled the (17) Butte Roadrunners  10-2 *** (15) Cabrillo College Seahawks over the Los Medanos College Mustangs  5-1

Balladeer’s Blog will have more results as the day continues.
