Even as we speak, the Regional Tournaments in the NCCAA are underway! The Lincoln Christian University Red Lions (logo at left) and the Maranatha College Crusaders are squaring off in the opening game of the Midwest Regional. Balladeer’s Blog will have updated scores as soon as they become available.
The East Region game between the Philadelphia Biblical University Crimson Eagles and the Baptist Bible College Defenders, which was originally scheduled for Monday, has been bumped ahead ANOTHER day by the wet weather in Pennsylvania. Now they’re scheduled to start play tomorrow at 12Noon.
Game 1 – MARANATHA CRUSADERS OVER LCU RED LIONS 3-2 – The Red Lions actually got off to a 2-0 lead in this game. Luckily for the Crusaders their man on the mound was Craig Lawson, Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: Crushin’ Craig. Lawson played a game of Iron Man baseball, pitching a whole game and giving up no additional runs. The Crusader bats came alive in the 4th inning and notched all 3 Maranatha runs with Crushin’ Craig’s stellar play propelling his team to the win.
Game 2 – NORTH CENTRAL UNIVERSITY RAMS OVER THE CRUSADERS 4-2 – The Rams are the top seed in the Midwest Region and more importantly, were ranked at number 4 in Balladeer’s Blog’s final regular season poll for NCCAA2 baseball. Maranatha got off to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning but the Rams came back to tie it in the 2nd. Mighty NCU eventually took a 4-1 lead and despite their best efforts the Crusaders were only able to add 1 more run. North Central will now await the winner of tomorrow’s elimination game between the Red Lions and the Crusaders, to play for the Midwest Region championship. The start time is scheduled for 12Noon ET.
u my man, rock! loved learning about these teams . I never heard of them before but I’ll get to follow their whole postseason via your blog!
Thanks! I appreciate that!
Fantastics to see these teams! My son wants to play baseball in college but doesn’t want to sit on the bench at a big-name school. I never knew these options were available for him.
Thanks! I love to spread the word about these great institutions!
The Red Lions are pretty dope!
They are pretty great, I agree.
Maranatha Baptist always falls short.
Well, not always.
