ST THOMAS TOMMIES AND AMHERST LORD JEFFS ARE NCAA DIVISION 3 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS

The NCAA Division 3 basketball tournaments for the men and women are now over. On the men’s side the St Thomas Tommies won the title game by defeating the Wooster Scots by a score of 78-54. Wooster was not able to duplicate their incredible comeback in the semifinals. The Tommies dominated this game, never leaving any real doubt as to the outcome. The Scots were trailing by double digits for virtually the entire game as St Thomas kept going on runs that expanded their lead.

The Amherst Lord Jeffs won the title on the women’s side of the tournament (yes, even their women’s teams use the name Lord Jeffs), defeating   the Washington University of St Louis Bears 64-55. This national championship is an appropriate finish for the magnificent four year run the Lord Jeffs women’s team has had. They have gone 120-9 in that period and made three Final Four appearances, with this title silencing any remaining doubters as to this team’s place as one of the best ever.
