BLUE DRAGONS VERSUS THE GREYHOUNDS TO OPEN REGION 6 TOURNAMENT

The Hutchinson Community College men’s basketball team opened the 2010-11 season with the Fort Scott Greyhounds. The Blue Dragons will open the 2011 Region VI Tournament with the same opponent.

Hutchinson (26-4) is the second seed out of the Jayhawk West and the third overall seed for the 2011 regional. Fort Scott (5-25) is the seventh seed out of the Jayhawk East.

Tuesday’s opening-round game will tip off at 7 p.m. at the Sports Arena. Tickets are $7 for reserved season and $5 for general admission. The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on KWBW-AM (1450) with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Rusty Hilst (analysis) beginning at 6:50 p.m. The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 6:50 p.m.

The men’s game will be the only game on Tuesday. The Jayhawk West champion Hutchinson women have an opening-round bye.

The winner of the Hutchinson-Fort Scott game will play the Butler/Independence winner at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Wichita State’s Charles Koch Arena in the Region VI quarterfinals.
