NHTI LYNX READY AS USCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT TIPS OFF TONIGHT

CONCORD — The NHTI, Concord’s Community College men’s basketball team has begun preparations for the USCAA National Basketball Tournament. This year’s tournament will take place from March 1-5 on the campus of Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, PA.

The top ten teams from the USCAA Division II will compete for the National Title. The Lynx earned a spot in the event by capturing the YSCC title as well as being ranked number seven in the last regular season coaches poll. NHTI will be joined by fellow YSCC member schools Vermont Tech and Southern Maine CC. VTC earns a spot in the national event by winning the YSCC regular season title and being ranked near the top of the coach’s poll all year long. SMCC has received an at large bid to compete in the tournament.

NHTI has been slotted as the number six seed and will battle the number three seeded Williamson Trade School of Media, PA. The game will be played in the Main Arena on Wednesday March 2nd at 11:15am. The game can be followed live on http://www.theuscaa.com.

Coach Paul Hogan’s 2010-2011 men’s basketball team currently has a record of 26-9. He is assisted by Chuck Lloyd, Simon Keeling, and Don Tuttle.

Besfort Syla (Manchester) and Terry Williams (Norwich, CT) were named YSCC All Conference Players. They will both be anchoring the Lynx scoring attack in the upcoming national event.

Alex Mitchell (Lowell, MA), Marv Leveille (Stamford, CT), Tyler Yeaton (Pembroke), Ryan Sweeney (Hudson), Ethan Reynolds (Bristol), and Ian Boyko (Jefferson) will bring power and size to the floor for the Lynx.

Vinnie Zenni (Manchester), Matt Cloutier (Milton), Randy Paciorkowski (Concord), Jackson Riel (Pembroke), and Evan Cote (Tilton) provide the NHTI squad with a three point attack.

Jay Pimentel (Lawrence, MA) and DJ Gregoire (Somersworth) add a wealth of athleticism and scoring ability off the bench.

And last but not least Sander van der Veen (Netherlands) brings enthusiasm, energy, and spirit to the Lynx bench, locker room, and on the floor.

All of these fine students, athletes, and coaches look to bring the USCAA National Basketball Championship trophy back to NHTI for the first time since 2005.

All championship games will be broadcast live on http://www.theuscaa.com, in addition, further tournament details and information is available online.
