FINAL FOUR BERTHS FILLED FOR NCAA DIVISION TWO

IUP Crimson HawksFINAL FOUR – FIRST BERTH – This year four of D2’s eight 1 seeds advanced to these Quarterfinal games. (D2 starts with 8 Regions of 8 teams seeded 1-8) In this particular hardcourt clash the 3rd seeded INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS toppled the 1 seeded AZUSA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY COUGARS. The Crimson Hawks were trailing the Cougars by just 33-31 at Halftime and after a brutal, hard-fought 2nd Half had defeated Azusa Pacific by a score of 69-65. Devante Chance led IUP with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.  

Florida Southern College MocsFINAL FOUR – SECOND BERTH – This game pitted the 1 seeded FLORIDA SOUTHERN COLLEGE MOCCASINS against one of the 2 seeds – the SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY PENMEN. At first it seemed like the Moccasins might be getting more than they could handle from the Penmen and by the break Florida Southern College was clinging to a slight 38-37 edge. The 2nd Half saw the Moccasins gradually put more and more distance between themselves and Southern New Hampshire University, ultimately winning the game 81-70. Kevin Capers tossed in 28 points to lead Florida Southern.  

Tarleton State Texans logo BESTFINAL FOUR – THIRD BERTH – Up next was a battle between the 1 seeded TARLETON STATE TEXANS and the 4th seeded UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT OLIVE WARRIORS. The 1st Half was very competitive but by the midpoint buzzer the Texans held a 33-31 advantage. After the break Tarleton State made their move, pulling further and further away from the pursuing Warriors. The final tally was Texans 77  Warriors 59. Tarleton State’s Mo Lee led the victors with his 15 points.  

BellarmineFINAL FOUR – LAST BERTH – The 1 seeded BELLARMINE UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS squared off against one of the 2 seeds – the MINNESOTA STATE AT MOORHEAD DRAGONS – for this last berth in the 2015 Final Four. The Knights were on top 49-43 after an action- packed opening Half. Following the break Bellarmine University poured it on offensively, taking control of the game. The Knights slew the Dragons by a final score of 92-75. Jake Thelen put up 26 points for Bellarmine U.
