THE COOLEST HELMETS IN NCCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL

 As a public service to all of us college football fans eagerly awaiting the start of the 2012 season Balladeer’s Blog presents another look at some of the coolest helmets in the divisions covered here.

Last week I covered the coolest helmets in NAIA  college football. This time around I’ll feature the coolest helmets in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). Each year the NCCAA’s premier gridiron event is the Victory Bowl and Balladeer’s Blog brings you coverage right here.

2011 NAIA COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF TEAMS ANNOUNCED

The Marian University Knights (helmet at left) gave me another excuse to pat myself on the back for predicting their football ascent back in the 2010 (yes, 2010) preseason. The Knights not only reached their first ever number one football ranking by unseating the previously top ranked St Xavier Cougars last Saturday but are the number 1 seed for the NAIA’s 16 team playoff field for 2011. The William Penn Statesmen were once again left standing at the altar but with only themselves to blame after blowing yesterday’s final regular season game. Here are the first round matchups set for next Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow I’ll examine the NCAA Divisions 3 and 2 playoff fields.

SPOT-CHECK: HOW ARE THE USAO DROVERS DOING?

University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers – MEN – The men’s team is sitting at 8-11 overall, 4-9 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Just yesterday the Drovers defeated St Gregory’s 81-61 to end a three-game losing streak. They see action again tomorrow night against the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm.  WOMEN – The women’s team is an unfortunate 6-14 overall, 2-11 in conference play. Continue reading →
