JUCO PLAYOFFS: REGION VI SEMIFINALS SCORE UPDATE

Final scores are in for today’s semifinals in Region VI:

(7) HUTCHINSON BLUE DRAGONS over the Independence Pirates 24-17

(1) BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES over the Coffeyville Red Ravens 31-5

The finals will be a rematch of the regular season matchup between the Grizzlies and the Blue Dragons. Two weeks ago Butler handed Hutchinson their only loss of the year so far. Next Sunday the Blue Dragons try to avenge that loss on the Grizzlies’ home field.

HCC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College football team will play host to its first Region VI playoff game since 2004 when the seventh-ranked Blue Dragons will meet Independence in a semifinal matchup on Sunday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons haven’t played host to a playoff semifinal game since 1995 when HCC defeated Coffeyville 17-16 in overtime. HCC’s last playoff at home was a quarterfinal game against Highland, a 65-0 semifinal victory. Continue reading
