FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) took the court against the MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. Come Halftime the Builders were on top 34-26. From there, NNAS managed more separation from the Mustangs as they won the game 70-58. Jahlil Hope and Devon Brown led the Builders with 14 points each.
FINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – Next, the URBE UNIVERSITY TIGERS played the SOUTHEAST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE EAGLES (should be Angels). The Tigers were out in front of Southeast Christian College at the Half by a score of 37-27. After the break, URBE University kept the Eagles at arm’s length for a 75-55 triumph. Luis Carias led the way for the Tigers with 20 points.
FINAL FOUR: THIRD BERTH – In this game, the BEACON COLLEGE BLAZERS clashed with the LIGHTOUSE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE MAKOS (as in sharks). The teams went basket for basket, resulting in a Halftime tally of 39-39. Regulation ended with the score knotted up at 80-80. In Overtime the Blazers managed to defeat the Makos by a final count of 97-93. Beacon College was led by Jovan Hill with 19 points.
FINAL FOUR: LAST BERTH – And the ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS faced the SOUTH CAROLINA CENTRAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE GLADIATORS. At the midpoint of the game the Atlanteans held a 31-29 edge. After the break, Atlantis University floored it, leaving the Gladiators choking on their dust in a 74-58 victory. Artem Sorokin’s 21 points led the Atlanteans, while teammate Folayemi Salako notched a Double Double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
NCAA DIVISION TWO
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH ONE – The defending national champions – the NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SHARKS – did battle with the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA AT HUNTSVILLE CHARGERS. UA-Huntsville had the Sharks worried at Halftime with their 35-32 lead. From there, the Sharks exploded for 47 points to win the game 79-63 led by Dallas Graziani with THIRTY points.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH TWO – This game pitted the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON against the UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH BULLDOGS. The Bison watched their 44-31 advantage at the Half melt away, but they held on tight to vanquish UM-Duluth 80-76. Leading Oklahoma Baptist was Terry Coner Jr. with 24 points.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH THREE – The CALIFORNIA STATE AT EAST BAY PIONEERS played the POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS. A 31-30 Halftime edge for the Sea Lions ultimately morphed into a 73-58 triumph for Cal State-East Bay. The Pioneers were led by Tyree Campbell, who tossed in 20 points.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH FOUR – An Upset was in store between the BLACK HILLS STATE YELLOWJACKETS and the DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS. The Yellowjackets put Dallas Baptist on notice with their 34-32 edge at the midpoint, then consummated the Upset 76-62. Fifteen points from Cam Lowe led Black Hills State to victory.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH FIVE – This game pitted the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS against the INDIANA UNIVERSITY-PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS. IUP was rolling with a 37-31 Halftime advantage. However, the Golden Knights stormed back from there to win the game 81-74. Leading Gannon University was Pace Prosser with 24 points.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH SIX – The DAEMEN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS battled the ST. ANSELM COLLEGE HAWKS. The Wildcats parlayed their 43-41 edge at the midpoint into an authoritative 94-73 clobbering by game’s end. Benjamin Bill’s 19 points led Daemen University.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH SEVEN – Another Upset in this clash between the MICHIGAN TECH HUSKIES and the WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS. The Huskies asserted themselves in the opening Half and led 44-35 at the break. From there, they left the Cavaliers even further behind in their 87-70 triumph. Leading Tech was Marcus Tomashek with THIRTY points, while teammate Gabe Smith got a Double Double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
ELITE EIGHT: BERTH EIGHT – And finally, the LANDER UNIVERSITY BEARCATS played the LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS. The Bearcats took control early and by Halftime had compiled a 37-29 lead. After the break, Lander University got even more separation from LRU for an 86-62 victory. The Bearcats were led by Greyson Pritzl with 19 points.
