COLLEGE BASKETBALL POSTSEASON CONTINUES AT BALLADEER’S BLOG

APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this conference tournament were the 3 seeds – the JOHNSON UNIVERSITY ROYAL CRUSADERS – and the top seeded UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS. By Halftime the Royal Crusaders had UPike worried with their 38-30 advantage. From there the Bears rallied but fell just short as Johnson University triumphed 76-75 led by Mason Lockhart and his Double Double of THIRTY-SEVEN POINTS and 12 rebounds.

CALIFORNIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE: ROUND ONE, GAME ONE – The 3rd seeded CAL MARITIME ACADEMY KEELHAULERS took the court against the 6th seeded PACIFIC UNION COLLEGE PIONEERS. This was a tale of two Halves as the Pioneers dominated at first, leading 51-41 at the midpoint. After the break, the Keelhaulers owned the 2nd Half, winning out 87-78. Lawrence Long led Cal Maritime with a Double Double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. 

CALIFORNIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE: ROUND ONE, GAME TWO – Up next, the 5 seeds – the STANTON UNIVERSITY FIGHTING ELKS – played the 4th seeded WESTCLIFF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS. Westcliff was up 30-28 at Halftime but from there the Fighting Elks came back. Stanton University beat the defending champion Warriors by a score of 72-66 led by 26 points from Nigel McKay.

CASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE: FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 3rd seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS (should be Explorers) clashed with the 5 seeds – the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES. Lewis-Clark State clung to a 27-26 edge to end the opening Half. From there, they got more and more separation from the Coyotes for a 74-62 victory. John Lustig and Dylan Scaife each had 21 points for the Warriors, with Lustig adding 11 rebounds for a Double Double.

CASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE: SECOND SEMIFINAL – In this game the 7 seeds – the CORBAN UNIVERSITY WARRIORS – faced the 6th seeded BUSHNELL UNIVERSITY BEACONS. By the break, the Warriors held a comfortable 43-29 advantage. From there, the Beacons pulled a bit closer but lost as Corban prevailed 78-70. Joe Gould led the Warriors with 25 points, while his teammates Clyde Harris Jr. and T.J. Zimmerman logged Double Doubles of 13 points & 11 rebounds and 19 points & 10 rebounds, respectively.

CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: SEMIFINAL ONE – The top seeded GOVERNORS STATE JAGUARS played the 5 seeds – the TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS. The Jaguars led 31-25 at Halftime, but the Trolls forced Overtime with a 63-63 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session Governors State managed a 73-69 triumph. Seventeen points from Vincent Mayes led the Jaguars, while his teammate Maxwell Marius had a Double Double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: SEMIFINAL TWO – Next, the 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF ST. FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS – took on the 6th seeded ST. AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES. The 1st Half ended with the Fighting Saints on top 41-35, but we had Overtime again as SAU tied things up at 82-82 from there. In OT, St. Francis beat the Fighting Bees 95-90. Fighting Saint Damarcies Moore tossed in a Double Double of 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead the victors.

CONTINENTAL ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: FIRST SEMIFINAL – Yesterday, the 2nd seeded ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES did battle with the 6 seeds – the FLORIDA COLLEGE FALCONS. A mere 28-27 edge for the Buffaloes going into Halftime was ultimately parlayed into a 71-63 victory for ABC over the Falcons at game’s end. Arkansas Baptist College was led by Ty’reon King with 21 points.

CONTINENTAL ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: SECOND SEMIFINAL – The 1 seeds – the GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES – played the 5th seeded FISHER COLLEGE FALCONS. The Grizzlies had built up a 49-40 lead by the midpoint of the game. From there, GGC defeated the Falcons by a Century Club score of 107-78. Mario Hill Jr. had 17 points to lead the Grizzlies, while teammate Patrick Johnson registered a Double Double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.

RIVER STATES CONFERENCE: SEMIFINAL ONE – The (2 West) INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS took on the (1 East) SHAWNEE STATE BEARS. Shawnee State held a tight 38-36 edge at Halftime, but after the break the Grenadiers took charge. When the dust settled IUS had triumphed 82-70 over the Bears. Leading the Grenadiers was Nathaniel Hoffman with 22 points.

RIVER STATES CONFERENCE: SEMIFINAL TWO – This game pitted the (1 West) INDIANA UNIVERSITY AT KOKOMO COUGARS against the (2 East) UNIVERSITY OF THE RIO GRANDE RED STORM. At the Half the Cougars were up 36-35, and from there IU-Kokomo got a bit more separation from the Red Storm. The final result was a 78-73 Cougar victory. Twenty-two points from Joseph Annan Jr. led IUK.
