NJCAA DIVISION ONE

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER NINE – The 18th ranked CHIPOLA COLLEGE INDIANS welcomed the number 9 team in the nation – the NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE RAIDERS. Northwest Florida State held a 36-33 edge at Halftime but from there the Indians took over, ultimately winning the game by a final score of 78-69. Braylon Roman led his team with 17 points.

CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The KASKASKIA COLLEGE BLUE ANGELS eviscerated the visiting KENTUCKY TROPICS 132-64   ###   Meanwhile, the LAKE REGION STATE ROYALS won 108-96 at the DAKOTA STATE AT BOTTINEAU LUMBERJACKS   ###   And the BRUNSWICK COLLEGE DOLPHINS downed the USC-SALKEHATCHIE INDIANS 104-98.

ONE-POINT WONDER – This game saw the GASTON COLLEGE RHINOS host the RICHARD BLAND COLLEGE STATESMEN. At the Half the Rhinos were clinging to a 32-30 edge. After the break the Statesmen continued breathing down their necks but Gaston College held on for a 63-62 victory. Kaleb Siler led the Rhinos with a Double Double of 19 points and 14 rebounds.

PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The EASTERN WYOMING COLLEGE LANCERS used the extra session to defeat the NORTHWEST COLLEGE TRAPPERS 78-73   ###   Elsewhere, the UTAH STATE-EASTERN GOLDEN EAGLES won 79-68 in OT at the SALT LAKE CITY COLLEGE BRUINS   ###   And the EASTERN FLORIDA STATE TITANS beat the DAYTONA STATE FALCONS 98-93.

ONE OVERTIME WASN’T ENOUGH – The GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS took it on the road against the CENTRAL WYOMING COLLEGE RUSTLERS. Central Wyoming led 32-20 at the midpoint but the Pronghorns forced OT with a 56-56 tie. The 1st Overtime ended at 66-66, but in DOUBLE OVERTIME Gillette College won 74-73 led by 29 points from Rashad McCormick.

THE COOLER NAME WINS – The SOUTHEASTERN (IA) COLLEGE BLACKHAWKS prevailed in a 72-67 visit from the TRITON COLLEGE TROJANS   ###   Next, the WILLISTON STATE TETONS won 82-80 at the MILES COLLEGE GOLDEN BEARS   ###   And the ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS won 93-73 at the COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA COYOTES. 

AND THE LORD SAID WIN, CHILDREN, WIN – The EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS visited the CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE VAQUEROS in this game. CAC was on top 52-49 come Halftime, but from there the Gila Monsters sang whenever they sang whenever they sang for a 97-76 triumph. Eastern Arizona was led by Ryan Hunt with a Double Double of THIRTY-SIX points and 23 rebounds.

ROAD WARRIORS – The MOTLOW COLLEGE BUCKS hammered the home standing JACKSON STATE GREEN JAYS 87-61   ###   The PANOLA COLLEGE PONIES won 87-79 at the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS   ###   And the CASPER COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS edged the LARAMIE COUNTY COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES 85-83.

DEFENSIVE EPIC – Points were at a premium in this game between the ANGELINA COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS and the visiting LEE COLLEGE NAVIGATORS. The Navigators were up 26-25 to end the opening Half but Angelina College came back to win the game 58-54. Jordan Matthews led the Roadrunners with 11 points in this textbook example of defensive excellence.

HAPPY HOME STANDS – The WAUBONSEE COLLEGE CHIEFS defeated the WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE RAMS 90-71   ###   Meanwhile, the (3) GULF COAST STATE COMMODORES logged a 76-64 win over the PENSACOLA STATE PIRATES   ###   And the OLNEY CENTRAL COLLEGE KNIGHTS beat the LAKE LAND COLLEGE LAKERS 80-76.
